Excellent food very special house
This is not a Restaurant, but an Hotel. Not only does Marie welcome us with a warm smile, she soon gives us a key to the house and the rooms.Well-appointed rooms, clean, and comfortable beds. Through the window a breathtaking landscape. On Christmas day we were not invited, but were allowed to serve us at the varied buffet.Easy to park the car, and there is supermarket and pizzeria at steps. It Was very good, stay here in a Xmas day !

We stayed at the hotel and had dinner there on one occasion. They have a limited choice on vegetarian main courses, but that is a general problem in Scandinavia as we found. However, the goat cheese with gnocchi and vegetables was very good, as was the rentier filet my husband had. Service was good, the ambiente cozy - no complaints at all. We can definitely recommend coming here for dinner.

Our Swedish friends were looking for a restaurant for a special occasion, and Fagelboet had that reputation. It is housed in a centuries-old wooden building, which gives it a unique and cozy ambiance. Having said that, the cuisine itself was underwhelming. The menu consists of meat fondues, moose, reindeer, beef, that you cook in hot broth at your table. You get a potato side dish with it. Otherwise, there are a few starters, like soup. It did not appear that anyone was swept away by the food. And it's a pricey place. More than $100 for a couple, with one glass of wine each and one starter between them. So, if your priority is not the atmosphere, you might want to consider other options.

One of the dishes we ordered was the ribs in terikayi sauce and it was delicious. Serving was big and 4 of us shared out 3 dishes. Even that, we were already very full before we could finish all.The choices of food were quite limited and slightly over-priced, but the staff was very helpful, trying hard to translate the menu in Swedish to English for us.

Gammelgården is open all year round and is a small, old wooden hotel with an excellent restaurant that can be booked by telephone or on line. The restaurant also has a pre- or after dinner comfortable sitting area with wood burning fires. It sits in the middle of wild, rolling hills (called 'fjäll' in Swedish, like 'fell' in English) that come alive in winter with skiers, dog sledders and the like. The restaurant menu is not filled with large numbers of choices but reflects the local flora and fauna (eg arctic char or röding, and reindeer or ren) served with local delicate side dishes. The atmosphere is friendly and old world charming and the heavy wooden walls and ceilings encourage total relaxation. This is not a Michelin star restaurant because its ethos is to help you relax rather than be on your shoulder every second minute with high powered service. We will visit time and again when in the area which means we highly recommend it.

The restaurant family from the west coast of Sweden has now taken root in the center of Dalarna, Sälenfjällen. This time, it is the son of Salesjö who controls the ship, together with a hand-picked team of stars in tableware, kitchen and bar. Come in and
But what superb cocktails they were! Loved the environment it was warm luxurious cosy and welcoming I cant remember the name but the gin and coriander cocktail is their signature and sublime - lovely seating areas and lit by candles after dark! Feels like a special place

What an experience! It was an extraordinary gastronomic experience for adults and kids with delicious swedish delicatesser and great wine variety where the personal could describe in each detail how the wine tastes! The personal was very polite and helpful! Highly recommended and worth visiting!

The buffet has three stages for each kind of meat (pork, lamb and beef). There are three chefs cutting pieces of meat of your choice and tenderness. The extra courses are excellent and this place is likely to leave you overly fed and significantly poorer. Our waitress had a bad day at her work and gave a very bad impression.
