Home to the four-day Roskilde Festival, arguably the best European rock festival, hilly Roskilde is less than 20 miles from Copenhagen. If hordes of rock stars aren't pillaging the town of 50,000, the excellent Viking ship museum is Roskilde's prime attraction. Featuring five ships discovered at the bottom of the fjord, you can add to the Viking experience by rowing the fjord on an hour-long longboat trip. The town is also famed for its much adapted 12th-century Roskilde Domkirke Cathedral.

Nice place full of students and local people, very good food and service. Trekroner/Pulled pork burgers or coffe/tea and variety of cakes are highly recommended. Special playground for kids.

Seriously, this is the best hot dog I've ever had not in Roskilde, not in Denmark, but the whole world. If you like it hot, go for the chili or chili cheese sausage. And do it like the Danes: top it with ketchup, mustard, remoulade, onions and pickles. Most order to-go but there're a few tables to enjoy it with juice or soda. 10/10!

Iâm just back from a visit to the Roskilde Viking Ship museum with my daughter and just wanted to write a brief review to say how amazing the food is at their cafe, KmartThey seek to combine foodstuffs from the Viking era with contemporary fillings as well.My daughter had the cheese and ham sandwich on homemade bread with a lovely looking salad which she really enjoyed. She followed that with Hot Chocolate and cake of the day special (In this case Raspberry tart with cream) which she loved, even better is that this is a daily special at 50krI had the beer braised belly pork on homemade flat bred. It had a Sea Buckthorn dressing that was just as amazing as the pork. My salad also had sea buckthorns in it which are a revelation I had a draft dark beer which I was over the moon with Nice staff and a nice atmosphere. Definitely worth a visit

Grilled BBQ buffet always with minimum 15 kinds of meat on the grill. Many hot dishes, great fresh salad bar and an appetizer buffet
Choices include breads, fish, chicken nuggets, meatballs, fries and mashed potatoes, a salad and veggie bar, and a carving station. Great sauces including a wonderful bernaise. Drinks and dessert are separate. There is a small playroom that my son appreciated. Fair value for us at 199DDK each, price of 99DDK was too high for what my son ate.

We came here for dinner. We hadn't reserved, not a good idea, but a table was found for us. I had some excellent fish and my companions a vegetarian option which they enjoyed very much. Servings are copious and the service friendly and helpful with reasonable prices providing very good value. We would definitely return.

Hungry, we happened upon Upstaiirs before going to see the cathedral. So happy we did. The cheese platter and open face roast beef on bread were delicious and beautifully presented. Service was good.

Restaurant Store Børs ligger midt på Roskilde Havn, hvor den historiske bygning danner rammerne for vores gastronomiske smagsoplevelser.
Very limited dinner menu of a few different steaks, a burger, or a weekly special. Steaks are expensive, but pretty good quality and cooked how they are asked for (rare = rare!) The burger was much better value and was actually very good although not all that hot by the time they brought it out. Service was pretty slow and not very attentive.

The restaurant is in very nice and well furnished rooms in what seems to be an old prisonersbasement right across from the cathedral. Very attentive staff and a good menu.

An excellent restaurant just outside town, right next to the campsite, serving some of the best food of our trip. Views down the fjord as the sun set, and across to the Viking Boat Museum. My husband had halibut, I had a salmon starter and then lamb.

Danish cuisine, once stodgy and unimaginative, has improved by leaps and bounds in the wake of Noma and its imitators. Most of the ambitious chefs seem to cluster around Copenhagen, but we found a notable exemplar in Roskilde. Mumm is a small, informal restaurant that might easily be overlookedâand it shouldn't be! We asked if the restaurant was named for the Champagne. No, smiled the waitress, "mummmm" is what children say about tasty food. Well, Mumm is mummmm! For example, a thinly sliced squash cylinder filled with tender scallop sushi, pickled and raw cucumber, and avocado hits all the right notes of sweet and sour. And it's a feast for the eyes as well.Diners are advised to choose 4-6 dishes per person, as all are beautifully presented small portions of fresh, organically grown ingredients, deftly seasoned with home-grown herbs and flowers. All dishes are the same price, reasonable for its quality (but don't expect a bargain). The sommelier is knowledgeable and can help you select appropriate wines to complement each dish, many less-known (and less expensive) than typical burgundies and bordeaux..
