Reviews on Scandinavian food in Gavle, Midnight Sun Coast, Sweden. Gävle [ˈjɛːvlɛ] is a city in Sweden, the seat of Gävle Municipality and the capital of Gävleborg County. It had 99,576 inhabitants in September 2016, which makes it the 13th most populated city in Sweden. It is the oldest city in the historical Norrland (Sweden's Northern Lands), having received its charter in 1446 from Christopher of Bavaria. However, Gävle is far nearer the greater Stockholm region than it is to the other major settlements in Norrland.

Cozy coffee shop in the heart of Gavle. We serve mostly vegan and gluten-free gourmet salads and sandwich inspired by season and freshly prepared from best ingredients. We offer great selection of vegan and gluten-free pastries and organic drinks.
This cafe recently opened at Gävle city (stortorget) and offers both vegetarian and vegan alternatives, but also classical Swedish "fika", salads and sandwiches. I have been for lunch (smoked salmon salad, wich was really nice), and for fika with my son and the staff have been friendly and tentative. The interior is really cozy and makes you feel at home. The guests seem to be of all ages and I love that you can also bring your dog here if you wish. Great location with sitting out area in the summer, I will definitely come back and try out some more vegan alternatives, as these are difficult to find in Gävle.

Welcome to Mackmyra Bar & Bistro! Here, we put great food and even better whisky first. And off course, some of our dishes have that little extra touch of our famous whisky!
We were around 60 people for dinner. We were served beef that should have been tender! But for almost most people the meat was bone dry, best described as an insult to the raw material! The 2nd glass of wine was served when most people were finished eating. The wine, a simple Côtes du Rhône, had large bottle variation.

Located just across the street from Scandic CH, good prizes. Try the Mackerel or the Pork with "raggmunk" (type of potatoe pancake with lingonberry jam.

We chose the Terassen Pub och Kok for dinner. The food tasted awesome. We had a good advice by the waiter in perfect english. We ate salmon and a typical swedish "cheesecake". Was definitely enough to eat and the price was totally o.k.!

A relatively new restaurant that focuses on organic, ecological and locally produced food. But they do it with a feel for food, for flavour and presentation. Everything I have tried there has been very tasty, from the soup at lunch to the three-course meals at dinner. They also concentrate on organic wines, and they have succeeded quite well in finding some good ones to go with the food. They had live music last I was there, a pianist that played just loud enough to hear but did not disturb our conversation. Top 3 in Gävle definitely. Top 2 even!

Experience a unique setting on the Grands Veranda with panoramic windows overlooking the Rantakatu and Gavlean. The restaurant serves classic food with a modern twist. The porch also has a bar that becomes a natural gathering place for those who appreciat
We stayed at the Elite Grand Hotel Gävle and we booked a table here since it is the only restaurant in the hotel. The food is good and the hamburger is actually one of the best i have ever eaten! I would recommend to order sweet potato fries as a sideorder because they are absolutely delicious. The food is a little expensive but it is worth what you pay for!

A restaurant that signals food pleasure. The small shop before restaurants shows that you take their ingredients seriously, several locally produced delicacies.Missed lunch with a few minutes, but a small menu is available for afternoon visitors.Beautiful presentation and fresh vegetables make the meal excellent.Art galleries and skincare items for sale in nearby buildings will be a nice stop after the meal.

We visited Sarahs for dinner and it was a very pleasant experience. The staff was very helpful and smiling. The menu were carefully designed. It is a cozy place and looks like as a big city restaurant, elegant. We recommend it för a lunch or a dinner. The prices are in concordance with the portions and taste of the dishes.

Had a great meal here. Really good service and nice cold beerStaff were very attentive and have to say service was excellent. Lots to chose from what looks like a continually changing menu. It does get busy and we were lucky to get a table so would be worth reserving.

Wow! The food here was absolutely fantastic. The bread variety that was brought to the table was fresh and delicious. A nice complimentary starter. We had the crispy pork (Broiled pork belly) with pureed potatoes and vegetables, Moules Frites (mussels) in a mouth-watering light cream sauce served with chips, filet of beef with au gratin potatoes, and turbot (fish) also with au gratin potatoes.Everything was cooked to perfection, and each bite was filled with flavor. The crispy pork was one of the Top 10 things I have ever had in my life.We didn't have reservations on Saturday night so we couldn't sit inside, but we were able to eat outside under the awning with the heaters turned on. Our waiter could have been friendlier but he was okay.I see why this is one of, if not THE, best restaurants in Gavle. It is expensive, but absolutely worth it if you are looking for an amazing meal.We were dressed somewhat casually, and it was fine. As the evening went on people were more dressed up as they came in.
