one of the most delicious meals we've ever had! simple, homely, filling and moresome! Iwona (the owner) greeted us and had us sit anywhere we'd like with our baby. She recommended what to order and described every aspect of the dish - ingredients, local produce etc we ordered the salmon dish and the fish soup.. heavenly!! even our baby could not get enough of the delicious, creamy soup! whilst we were eating iwona carried our baby around the restaurant so we could eat in peace for 5 mins - so lovely of her! we thoroughly enjoyed her presence and her food and wish her all the success in the world!

The Kvikne Hotel restaurant came recommended, but we did not want a buffet dinner and were relocated to the hotel bar & bistro. Quite adequate, but small menu. Good Martinis, and well prepared entrecôtes. Best of all, the place was not noisy; no problems talking and eating, which is always a bonus!

We ate here after a recommendation from our hotel owner. We wanted to have traditional Norwegian food, and this place did that very well. Hearty, home style Norwegian cooking, large portions, and friendly service. It is owned & run by a Filipino lady who married a local man. Can recommend a meal here if you visit Balestrand.

Kviknes Hotel dining room. Evening buffet and a la carte menu. Balholm Bar serves a la carte meals. Fully licensed. Well stocked wine cellar. International cuisine. Local ingredients used as far as possible.
Very nicely decorated and large dining room in Kviknes Hotel. Lovely views overlooking Sognefjord. Gigantic buffet. Dinner included salmon prepared 8 different ways, fish, shrimp, crabs, hot meat entrees, more salads than you can name, and a dessert bar you will feel obligated to try. Very, very, good. Breakfast included all the usual dishes - something for everyone. Wow. Would certainly dine here again.

Welcome to a creative experience for the body and the soul. I make traditional genuine home-cooked Norwegian meals. No fancy cooking machines, no fancy plates and no fancy gimmicks, just good clean wholesome food.
If you are lucky you will meet the owner. Friendly and fun atmosphere. Local dishes in a family home atmosphere. Very charming

If this place were in the States, it would not only be impossible to get a reservation but it would be $500 per person. The owners were lovely and described the meal to us. The herring was off the charts. Everything was fantastic. I donât even love cider but the pear and ginger one was tops. Definitely recommend stopping here. By the way if you walk, itâs up a hill in a neighborhood and my mom said itâs quite arduous to get to, lol.
