Great White Plague center An exhibition about loss, sorrow and despair but also about hope, serenity and lust for life. An atmospheric and cosy Café that serves homemade pastries and good coffee
This is a place which opened just this summer. The café is located in old staff quarters that stood empty for decades. But with hard work and donation they have managed to renovate part of the building, and another part awaits hard work next winter. There a museum of TB will be opened. The location is about 10km south of Akureyri and is where a hospital for TB patients was opened in 1927; my grandmother stayed there for 40 years. Thanks for coming and this positive feedback â¤ï¸

Skjaldarvik Restaurant Cozy restaurant in the countryside - only 10 minutes drive from Akureyri. Happy hour with nice sharing plate options from 16-18 Small menu in the evening from 18-20.30, for example, Fish of the day, steak of the day and fresh raviol
I loved the food in the restaurant at Skjaldarvik! Highly recommend the lamb dish and the soup as starter..its amazing with secret incredients. The bread you get as a starter was so soft and tasty! Also the atmosphere of the guesthouse is so great, super cozy. The rooms are decorated with love and the items are mainly selfmade! I would highly recommend Skaldarvik as a restaurant and also as guesthouse :)

1862 Nordic Bistro is located on the first floor of Hof, the culture and conference centre in Akureyri. The restaurant is named after the year Akureyri was awarded township and was opened in 2010, along with Hof. 1862 Nordic Bistro is at the same time a c
This neat little Bistro is inside the rather brutalist architect-style cultural centre, called the Hof, set on the waterside.Overlooking the water, at the far end of a high-ceilinged hall, there is a small bar and kitchen with a nice selection of uncomplicated dishes, open sandwiches and soup.As with everywhere we ate, iced water is provided, so you can avoid the steeply-priced drinks. We had a tasty - smaller portion- lamb soup, with delicious fresh local bread and a salmon dish.Grab a seat by the window and relax.

We were too tired to go out for dinner, but with a hotel restaurant this good, why bother. The food is very tasty, the service is friendly and professional, and the decor is not bad. Prices were average for Iceland and the quality of food. The menu has a nice range of selections. This is a better restaurant than I expected for this hotel.

Good food, right in the heart of town, nothing fancy but Icelandic delicious. The hostess ( maybe manager/owner) was most gracious, accommodating and welcoming.

Múlaberg Bistro & Bar in Hotel Kea is located on one of the most scenic corners in town and you could say that nothing comes closer to being the centre of the universe in Akureyri. This is where the finest Icelandic ingredients meet bistro cuisine under F
We didn't have a reservation, but they found a place for us at the back where it was quiet. I had grilled cauliflower in spinach sauce and it was delicious. My friends had duck or salmon. A good location a few steps down from the Art Museum.

Modern relaxed setting, serving fresh locally caught seafood and meats. Surrounded by beautiful art and sculptures, you can relax with space to enjoy your meal. Booking always advised but pop in and relax while we sort you a table.
We came here because i had read the good reviews and was excited to try it. We got a reservation and were told they would only hold table for 5 minutes. We arrived punctually and were seated by a friendly hostess. The waiter was also friendly. We had the catch of the day which was wolffish. Food came out and looked nice - fish served in a pan with potatoes, sauce, and salad altogether - I don't think salad should be served in a hot pan, but I guess that's what they do here. The problem came when we started eating it and it was WAY OVERSALTED. You could not discern any other flavors besides salt. It was very unpleasant and totally ruined the meal for us. I couldn't even finish eating it. The waiter never checked back in to see if everything was ok. The best part of the meal was the bread which they serve in these silly little shopping carts (I guess they think it's whimsical, we thought it was dumb). And there weren't even any bread plates, so you had nowhere to lay your bread to butter it, etc. Unfortunately, this was our worst meal in 12 days in Iceland. Very disappointing :(Sorry the meal was not to your taste we actualy dont add any salt to the wolf fish, the sauce as explained is a citrus sauce and we garnish with cappers and olives to use natural salt, the citrus is often confused as salt. What suprises me is i personaly come to your table and asked if the meal was ok just like I do with every table this is why the waiter does not need to check back, i do it personaly. but you said everything was fine and also when paying said it was fine. . our shopping trolleys and the other random stuff we use is a toast to the namesake and builder of the restaurant Noi he made the many strtange sculptures you see around you in Akureyri and the restaurant, he found uses for some very strange items and we do the same
