I took 3 meals at Arle in the off-season (late September) when the place was essentially deserted. I had a delightful waitress with a smart phone translator so instead of the usual pointing at pictures and grimaces the ordering was fun. A very extensive menu; I have no idea how they can stock it in slow times. With good instructions I had three different Ukrainian dishes on my 3 visits, and wonderful borscht each time. Good inexpensive choices for wine-by-the-glass. It was a pleasure to go to Arle. When I left I felt I was leaving a friend behind.

On a work trip to Berdyansk, ten of us had a lovely meal at Traktir na Tishenko. A wide variety of Ukrainian dishes, meticulously presented and with good flavours. Although pricier than average for Berdyansk, this restaurant is excellent value for money. Well worth a visit.
