We have eaten here a good few times as we are members of the gym, and my Husband a member of the Golf club. The only criticism I hav ever had is when there is an event and I consider that they cannot cater for the masses i.e. Christmas events, etc. However, the food served in the bar area is good quality, good value and the waiting staff are very attentive.

With 8 TVs and a projector screen The George is the place to be for all of your sporting wants and needs, live music and a DJ every weekend and karaoke on the first Friday of every month. Great value and drinks deals all day every day, cocktails and a vas
This used to be an excellent place to eat, especially Sunday lunch. Since change of management the pub has gone downhill. Tried Sunday lunch with a friend on 14. April 2013. There was no choice - just offered turkey which came with cauliflower cheese, white cabbage, mashed carrot and swede, 4 very small roast potatoes and gravy; all of which arrived over half an hour after ordering and was served up rather unattractively on a plate. The meat was cold, the cauliflower cheese tasted revolting, not sure what the mash was - certainly didn't look or taste like carrot & swede. Anyway, we sent the food back and were given a refund. Won't be going back. As I say, what has happened to what was once a very good pub?

Stopped in for a drink whilst in Witham and ended up ordering a sunday roast whilst we were there. Really good prices (was around £6) and you can choose what vegetables/meat you'd like. Service was slow but food tasted lovely & homecooked, and just what you want on a sunday. Very traditional pub.

Staff go above and beyond tweaking menu option slightly where possible.Very good size portions, reasonably priced and cooked well, all for only a pound or so more than your big standard budget pub chains.Would encourage people to support a family ran pub for a change, I think you'd be surprised.

This time, just my wife and I had lunch at the Cross Keys. If anything, our experience was even better than our last visit. Friendly staff, a thoroughly decent house red, a superb meal, hot, generous with immaculate presentation and delicious. An extremely pleasant pub with great atmosphere. Certainly my favourite place to put on the nosebag!

This was our first visit and it was really good. Motherâs Day meant we had to wait a little while for our table but it was worth it. Roasts were enormous with veg served separately and the Beef Bourguinon was fabulous so tender and tasty. I felt really full, but managed to squeeze in a baguette bread pudding with cranberries and creamy custard, also the apple pie looked really good again with creamy custard. The young man who looked after us couldnât do enough for us and altogether it was a great experience. As I said first visit but not the last.Hello Mo H! Thank you for finding time to write this review. Motherâs Day was extremely busy for us and we tried our best to make our customers happy. We are glad you would like to visit our restaurant again and we are looking forward to cooking for you!
