Things to do in Wallingford
First pub we found in Wallingford and given my colleague and I were both on motorcycles and arrived in the mother of all rainstorms it was a very welcome refuge. We walked into the bar and were immediately greeted by a couple of the locals which was a nice touch. The landlord at this time was busy re stocking wine bottles in his fridge he eventually looked up and said "I suppose you want serving?" I really wanted to say "No we have just come to look at the scenery" but given it was raining outside I thought it better to keep my mouth shut. The landlord then said "If you don't say what you want I cannot serve you" so we ordered beers and crisps sat down. We eventually got chatting and realised what nice guy he was, and no doubt had the same quirky sense of humour as myself. A couple of the locals who were drinking in the bar had recommended a restaurant (as we were starving hungry and crisps did not suffice) The restaurant was walking distance however we had nowhere to leave our motorcycles. On hearing this the landlord very kindly allowed us to leave them in his car park which we were really grateful for. I understand he has just taken over and for that reason I wish him well as he is a top guy! oh and finally he has a lovely dog (English Bull Terrier) who has that look "don't mess with me" she (the dog) was equally nice.

Friends had recommended that we try The Coachmakers Arms out now that there are new people running it and we weren't disappointed. Having had a few drinks with said friends we then decided to stay for dinner. We both had the fillet steak which was probably the best that I have had in a long time. Fresh and from the local butchers in Wallingford. My wife says that the homemade sticky toffee pudding was divine. Praise indeed from a dessert connoisseur!!! Looks like we have found another local restaurant to add to our list. Well done Josh and his mother & father for turning this place round.

Local warm pub on a beautiful green called the kinecroft, serving homemade pub classics alongside a fresh Greek Cypriot menu all homemade family recipes . Fullers ales and a great variety of whisky and guns
It's so hard for dog lovers to find a Sunday lunchtime venue which has absolutely everything you need for a flawless experience for you and your dog... Car parking, a large safe dog walking green right there, a dog-welcoming landlord, friendly staff and customers, great beer, excellent food, vegetarian options, serving food on Sunday from 12 to 4pm, easy to get a table (reservations possible), logs on the fire (with guard). Well we found one today, tucked away down a lane in Central Wallingford, but with a small car park right next to it, and a larger long stay car park 1 minute walk away. It's only 30 mins drive from either Oxford or Reading, and with Riverside walks it's an absolute hidden gem, less obvious and therefore less busy than the very popular Riverside pub.We will certainly be back!!! Thankyou so much. We are extremely happy to know you and your dog had a good day. Was a pleasure to meet you also. We hope to see you again soon

A cosy country pub nestled in the Chilterns, with outstanding views on rolling hills. Inside it is traditional and inviting with a roaring log fire, wooden beams, beers served straight from the cask, good wholesome pub food and a warm welcome.
My wife, myself, my son and 2 grandaughters enjoyed Sunday lunch at the King William. The pub was busy but luckily we had booked. Its position is amazing with superb views across the Chilterns - if it hadn't been so windy we would have lunched outside.Starters were good, particularly the whitebait and the smoked salmon and prawns. My wife and I had the roast beef which was so tender it almost melted in the mouth. With three large slices and an enormous Yorkshire the portions were more than generous. The 3 others in our party had the chicken pies which were huge and packed full with chicken and mushrooms. Again very generous portions.Quality really first class and accompanied by excellent service.Dear ReviewerThank you for taking the time to review our business and I am so please you had a wonderful Sunday and Sunday Lunch we are trying a few new things for Sunday Lunch one being the giant Yorkshire Puddings and the Red Wine& Shallot Jus and your feed back is very important and most welcoming SO thank you and hope to see you again A

A BRITISH PUB & KITCHEN - The Queen's Head is a stunning pub in the heart of the Oxfordshire village of Crowmarsh Gifford. Five minutes across The Thames from Wallingford and just a short drive from Henley, Oxford and Reading, this great little pub is the
Oh dear. We should have been suspicious when we were the only people in the restaurant, but we thought well, maybe itâs just early. Very helpful waiting staff but we had to take the initiative in asking for table water, clean knife, clean wine glass (it was not just smeary but had a streak of something down the side). We had three different roasts and they were all poor. The meat was nearly cold, the parsnips were hard, and the outside of the potatoes was hard too. It was all very tasteless - so much for the lamb being âmaple and orangeâ, it was just grey and bland. On the positive side the potatoes were hot, but I canât believe I am so desperate to find something positive that I have to say that! We left most of it and to her credit the manager didnât charge us. So thereâs a positive, but so much for an enjoyable Sunday lunch out.

Pub
From the outside it didn't look good and the 'garden's area has no view and is spoilt by more junk lying around, although partially hidden, than my shed. It was lively enough inside though and the menu appeared simple and cheap for a quick bite but were we wrong. This was no quick bite...A steak and onion baguette came with plenty of chips and coleslaw and the pulled pork nachos were among the best we have had recently and much larger than most sharing portions for far less.We will definitely bear this place in mind when out for a walk again but it does slow progress afterwards.

I went there with 3 friends and we had a table by the window in this quaint old pub. It is not big so it could be worth phoning and booking a table

Turned up at the chequers public house, car park was full, double parked, went inside, greeted by woman behind the bar given a menu, told to take a table that looked was for two people, went sat down ordered drinks, paroused the excellent menu, so hard to choose, so opted for Scottish battered cod, chips, peas and home made tartar sauce, little bit noisy, crowded other than that excellent food, will be going back hopefully a bit quieter.

Take sanctuary from the street-level bustle and dive in to the flavours of local British cuisine at Oxen Bar & Grill, the all-day neighbourhood brasserie nestled in the Courtyard Oxford South Hotel. With leather snugs, Oxfordshire inspired details, expose
Standard food (although the fish did taste and look like it came frozen from the local supermarket) but highly priced. For what looks like a high class place the food was disappointing and the service wasn't much better (including the waiter laughing when we were actually complaining about the food). It will definitely not be somewhere we visit when we are in the area next. You can get much better food elsewhere for less. Very disappointing experience.Thankyou for your review.. i would like to take this opportunity to apologise that we fell short of your expectations on this occasion.it is only with feedback, good or bad, that we can improve and increase our offering to our valued guests.I would like to gain some more information on your experience here at The Oxen Bar & Grill, as it leaves me with some questions - please email me directly on [email protected], so we can discuss further.Kindest regards and looking forward to hearing from you.Thomas KentFood & Beverage Manager
