Offering good old fashioned hospitality for more than 130 years, the Spread Eagle Hotel's experienced and friendly staff and inspired modern Australian cuisine always impress.
Itâs quite a simple dish, hard shell chicken tacos with some guacamole, chilli, etc. The difficult bit shouldnât be the taco shell. Unfortunately tonight the kitchen at the Spready was so over-cooked they were BLACK. I bit it and the whole thing exploded! What a shame - the rest of it was delicious. Hi, thanks for taking the time to write. At the time of your visit we had just changed to using blue corn tortillas instead of the usual white and yellow corn, for our crispy shell tacos. They have a natural blue colour, which is more of a dark purple when fried to be crispy. We apologize for not informing you of this change at the time of your visit. Please let us know if there is ever an issue, as our knowledgeable team are happy help. Regards,Spread Eagle Management.

The Grand has been voted on numerous occasions the Best Pub Dining Room in Australia. It is also currently the Only Pub in Australia to have been awarded a coveted Age Good Food Guide Chefs Hat (12 times). Long being regarded as an Institution of The Melb
Attending the Grand on high recommendation of friends I was excited to try this restaurant for the first time We ordered the degustation menu, 6 courses and optional matching wines which we passed on.Radicchio with balsamic vinegar , pear and a delicious creamy cheese purée was incredible with bold intense flavours Duck liver parfait on home made brioche Gnocchi with burnt butter and sage Spanish mackerel Mushroom risotto (signature dish of the restaurant)Porterhouse steak Italian donut with coffee ice creamThe serving sizes were just right given the number of courses you are very well fed The food is faultless and cooked superbly, the flavours are bold and intense and beautiful.A note for all business owners however We had one young lady with an eastern euro accent who was lovely, attentive and engaging The second waiter mid 40s possibly French was a disaster and would deter me from returning or recommending this restaurant He practically dropped the plates on the table when he served and described the meal he was providing as âthe steakâ or âice creamâHe was walking away from the table before the plate had stopped vibrating - it was as though he was angry at our presence I watched him serve numerous tables with the same attitude I would never tolerate behaviour like this in my business ...

I have eaten here several times and generally food and service have been good. Mains are around the mid $30 mark and both menu and wine list are quite extensive and cater to all tastes.Today however, I chose the chicken Parma which is a pretty safe and boring choice I know. But, let me tell you these guys have taken a boring old Parma to the next level and I am so glad I chose it today; It was to die for! Beautiful salad, chips cooked to perfection, chicken fillet flattened and coated in a beautiful tomato, ham and cheese topping and browned to perfection. This was like no other chicken Parma I have ever had and it is for this reason I would happily return. Service was prompt and efficient. 3 mains, a dessert, drinks and coffees $160.
