We so wanted to like this place as it was the only pub in the vicinity to the campsite where we were staying and if we like somewhere we generally eat there a couple of times on a holiday. However, the experience was very underwhelming. The food was just average and the service was very slow...My husband's pie and chips looked and tasted like canteen fare and my burger was medium rare which I didn't ask for! I also paid extra for blue cheese which was barely there as a 'glaze'.We didn't order dessert as we usually do and I think quality of food and service needs to be upped considerably before we would consider returning.

A lovely 1860 pub on the outskirts of the Market Town of Tavistock. The current Tenants took over the pub in 2017 and are working tirelessly to give the Pub back to the Community. Very Friendly towards Families and Dogs, the Market Inn offers a fantastic

Great grub. Great service. Great atmosphere. No car park but hey, neither does Weatherspoons. Great welcome on arrival. Can thoroughly recommend this gastro pub. But be warned!!!!!! Cheap it ain't . Everything about the place is fabulous but the bill was eyewateringly large. My tip? Go there, you won't be disappointed.

We pride ourselves on producing the highest quality food from the finest ingredients - beef, from local herds that has had a minimum of 21 days maturing; lamb and pork also from local farms; fish that is delivered fresh - never frozen - from St Ives daily
Arrived at 2pm (had booked), but sadly they had run out of roasts. To be fair they were so apologetic, and the place itself was so lovely we were happy to go with the suggestion of steak with roast dinner trimmings and we were not disappointed. The steak was fantastic, the roast potatoes and veg were perfect. Gravy was amazing. Only negative would be not enough potatoes, and home made Yorkshire puddings would be better. But it was still a very very good dinner. The pub is stunning inside and out. Beautifully well kept gardens with brilliant scenic views. Service was also very good. Our first visit but won't be our last.

A first rate country pub overlooking the higher reaches of the river Tamar. Good quality fresh local food at tables inside and out. Well thought of locally. Well worth an entry.
Lovely old pub but looked unloved and neglected and was very cold, so cold, didnt want to stay. there was no woodburner going.Dead insects stuck to window that had clearly been there a while so felt the cleaner was probably not that great. Especially regarding the toilets, need a revamp, toilet seat massive crack, door difficult to lock/close, no loo roll, no hand drier and an old damp towel hanging over said drier, didnt look very nice. agree to other reviewer, there was indeed a very unhappy looking lady behind the bar and not welcoming, a smile is free! re our score, we didnt eat today but have done and generally v good value

On a bustling commercial street in Tavistock town centre, the Tavistock Inn offers a unique pub experience and is only a minuteâs walk from the River Tavy and a 7-minute walk from Tavistock bus station. The bar features high wood-beamed ceilings and walls
Having moved to the town recently, I have started to really enjoy dropping into the Tavistock Inn for a quick pint of Guinness or a local ale. The welcome is always warm, the interior is interesting to say the least, being decked out like an antique shop and the beer is perfect. It's always a pleasure.

Traditional English pub with a variety of local real ales and beers, extensive home made menu, in addition to our daily specials. Family games room, baby changing room and disabled facilities. Dogs very welcome. Fantastic setting for any function.
Looks nice from the outside. Inside ok could be better. Food took a long time to come out over half an hour wasn't that busy. My husbands ham egg and chips was fine, I ordered the seafood linguine but was disappointed when it arrived should of had at least four different seafood's but only two or three mussels tiny calamari and no prawns or octopus. I told the waitress and she removed it and it came back with some nice big prawns and apologies. The people on the next table were not happy either. Shame because it could be a nice place with a little care and attention.Good Morning Madam,We are sorry your experience at the pub did not live up to your expectations. We have just introduced a new menu and specials board and thus are still fine tuning our portion sizes and timings of dishes off of our customer's feedback. We will take note of your comments for our continued improvement of service going forward.Kindest RegardsWill, Madi and the team.

Managed to get a table in the very popular gastro-pub on a Sunday evening. The food was excellent, the service attentive and friendly and the ale well kept and refreshing. Almost five stars ..... but not quite. The duck dish I had was well cooked and I enjoyed it though in hindsight perhaps I should have had a side dish of something green..... actually great place to eat.... if in Tavistock book in advance!

After checking in to our hotel in Tavistock we asked for dinner recommendations from our host. Given a few excellent options, we decided head to Peter Tavy Inn on hearing that it was a warm and cosy British Pub with generous servings of traditional pub food (despite it being a ten minute drive away through narrow laneways and dark corners). All part of the big adventure we have come to love in our 50 day journey in UK.We arrived to a welcoming, old style pub, with happy voices and tempting kitchen smells emerging. The low timber teams meant a bit of head ducking for my 6'2" husband as we were shown to our corner table in a fully booked restaurant. We had been told of the pub's reputation for the best steak and stilton pie so we could not resist ordering after entrees of chicken liver pate and smoked salmon using the freshest ingredients. The pie's hot method pastry was buttery and delicious and the meat tender and beautifully flavoursome. Each of us enjoyed an enormous piece of pie accompanied by a side dish of beautifully prepared vegetables and crispy potatoes. N!eedless to say we could not manage to even view the dessert menuAll in all a wonderful, warm and cosy evening in this delightful pub provided another happy memory for our book of travels.
