The historic Holly Bush Inn is generally recognised as being the second licensed pub in the country. Dating back to the 16th century the thatched in sits in the quaint village of Salt. We serve all home cooked food using local produce, wherever possible,
Been here a couple of times now and every visit has been fabulous. Yesterday we nipped in around four, got everything we wanted; precisely how we like it and ate like kings. Roasts were plentiful, served attentively and were somewhat delicious. We asked for yorkies on both & got them. The portions were generous & the people were lovely. Lots of happy diners, finding room for pudding. The only trouble youâll find, is choosing from all the specials. Give this place a go & youâll be back for seconds as often as possible- I promise. Last visit I discovered the ham, egg & chips, which features slices of proper ham & home made piccalilli (which they should sell by the jar?!) The pies are luscious and the plates all go back empty. Donât know what the moaners are grumbling about - Never been disappointed, even at peak times; the turnover is speedy - Wonderful place Jx

Party of 8 for Sunday lunch(birthday celebration) been here many times, usually have good food & good service. Not this time. Took a long time for food to be served, one dish missing & when it finally arrived it was inedible. Not charged for it as a result. Skipped dessert as we had sat there long enough. Won't visit again, & won't recommend to friends as we normally do. Used to be a really good place for food & service, but not anymore.

We were visitng friends who have a canal boat and we arranged to meet them at Wheaton Aston. The canal runs literally alongside the pub. I contacted the landlord Phil and asked if we could stay in our motorhome overnight at the pub as we planned to eat/drink with our friends there. Phil was happy for this to happen. When we arrived late on a Friday afternoon we could see that the pub was popular by the number of people inside eating and drinking. Glad I had booked a table as I suspect we might have had trouble if I had not.As for drinks there was an extensive choice of real ales, together with lagers, cider etc and a wide choice of speciality gins and malt whiskies including my favourite Talisker. As for dining the choice was great, either from the main menu or the daily specials. Two of us opted for calamari starters which were very tasty. Our main courses of mixed grill, lasagne and lamb were enjoyed by all. The two ladies enjoyed their crumbles! All the staff were very polite and welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. Thank you Phil, Steph, Freya behind the bar and the rest of your team. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and will return.

At The Dog and Doublet Inn we take pride in our home cooked wholesome food. We use only the freshest and most seasonal produce which is locally sourced wherever possible. Open daily with a regularly changing menu, the inn has kept its traditional charming
Staring with the down side. It took quite a long time for the food to arrive. However when it did it was excellent and well prepared. Portions were big and well seasoned. The staff were very professional yet approachable. Plenty of patience with young children.Worth a visit...so long as you're not in a hurry...

Lovely pub with a good sized restaurant, Service very good. However, the food was very average, not sure whether the cook had been to the Caribbean but it seemed a very Anglicised version of what it should be.I had goat curry which was fairly tasteless pieces of meat in a bland brown gravy, did not look or taste very appealing. My wife had red snapper which frankly could have been any fish in batter. It was our first visit, and after some reviews we have had from friends disappointing.Suggest they stick to what they know, which I am sure is very good.

We are a traditional english pub. we serve evening meals Thursday to Sat 6.00pm-9.00pm and sunday lunch 12.00pm-4.00pm
If you prefer cuisine,....... look elsewhere, as The Green Man in Hixon is pure unadulterated wonderful home cooking at it's most satisfying. We have just left there after a Sunday lunch. It was busy, the staff were everywhere and everyone was getting what they expected and wanted. They are just the right ticket for the place. They wear a smile and serve with chatter. Its clean and tidy, sufficient space between tables, choices are good and meal sizes are nicely proportioned. The "Sweet" board is well stocked and the portions are .......... proper sizes. You may well ask why have I not given the place perfect rating.............I would struggle to answer that, except that I am a great believer in "nothing is perfect"........but trust me here, you would need to do some travelling to improve on the staff service and the food from The Green Man in Hixon. A very enjoyable afternoon.

A traditional pub in the centre of town, offering renowned burgers and great live music. Not to mention the best Guinness in town.
It was the best in stafford and then unfortunately under new management it list it's way but now back in good hands producing fantastic food...surprisingly light given the portion size which shows the quality I think. Very fortunate to call this my local pub...great food always great company and happy to give a positive review (noone asked me to)

This pub serves lovely Nepalese dishes as very reasonable price. The food is freshly prepared and taste very well. Great for a lazy night of non cooking as it does not break the bank and provide a nice meal.
