"The Lantern, formerly the Old Lantern Inn, has been restored to open as a pub, restaurant and soon a delicatessen and quality supplies shop too. We have 18 state of the art lines at the bar featuring artisanal beers and cider sourced from microbreweries

Was recommended the rising sun by a local, would advise to pre book as itâs not the largest of pubs, but the decor and beer gardens make up for that, 8 of us arrived after a very long drive, and they accommodated us even though we hadnât booked and there was another large party in. I had the sirloin and peppercorn, after spending 2 weeks in Durban it was on par with the steaks there! Other family members had the lamb special: lasagne that looked and they say tasted very tasty. A really well priced end of week place to eat and drink.

We choose this restaurant because was late and the one we wanted to go was not serving meals that evening. The restaurant is simple but nice and warm but the meal was wonderful. I took a surf and turf and the meat was tender like butter. My wife and daughter took the fish and chips, crispy and light. My boy took an hamburger also very tasty and juicy. Apple pies with custard really good as well. We also discovered that on the bottom of the restaurant (where the toilets are located) there is a canteen with live music. We were tired but next time we'll definitely end the evening down there.

Helpful guy on the desk and the lady behind the barThank you

The food was good, we all enjoyed our choices but the service is slow over the weekend as the place is very busy and very popular. Book in advance

We are a country pub with a large beer garden. We serve food all day until 9.00pm.
Visited with family on a Saturday night. We all had a meal which everybody thought was very nice and reasonably priced. I had the homemade pie and mash which was lovely. The young man that served our table was very polite and friendly. Dog friendly too which is great. Would definitely return next time Iâm in the area.

Proper British Pub with good value home cooked food (Bar & Kids menu + Specials-Boards) with a good sellection of Ales and Wines etc' We welcome well-behaved children, but ask parents & guardians to keep them under control and out of Bar areas. Dogs are a
Forget all the nobby fashionable eatery's in kingsdown -- this is the one - top notch food and excellent well kept beers -- been going years --- we're local and visit once a month ish . An exceptional place where the owners know how to please and keeps the ales in tip top condition. No good for DFLs as the prices are reasonable and the road is narrow so Chelsea tractors will have to park on the seafront.Thank you for that nice review.

The White Horse is Dover's oldest pub, original building c 1365 and is the Channel Swimmers' pub of choice since 2002. You will see our main bar area walls adorned in signatures of those who have successfully swum the channel. We are essentially a Pub and
Visited as staying ion Dover for 2019 Screwball Rally. Nice locals pub serving Birra Moretti among other others and interesting decor with the signatures of those who have been brave enough to tackle cross channel swim. Our intention was to eat at the White Horse but they donât serve food on a Wednesday but the staff were happy to recommend a good alternative venue.

An historic sea-side pub and restaurant in St Margaretâs Bay, near Dover, The Coastguard invites you to dive in to superb food and drink while enjoying an epic view over the waves. Britainâs nearest pub to France, the Coastguard has kept watch on the sea-
We visited The Coastguard on a rainy chilly evening in October. The location of the place is just great, right on the beach. We even enjoyed the windy road down - my fellow travelers wondered how on earth I found this place! The food was excellent, the staff very welcoming, friendly, helpful. The only downside to our visit was that the pub was not very warm. They must have had the heating turned off. It would have been a lot cosier if the temperature was a little higher.Thank you for your review. Sorry that the pub was a bit cold. We are just at that time of year between having the heating on and off - also soon we will have our roaring central fire going! Hope to see you again.

A true traditional pub with great character, friendly staff and a great range of drinks which includes a great selection of well kept ale. The staff and locals make a visit to the smugglers bar a gruelling enjoyable experience. The food menu is well priced and the food is of great quality, is well present and cooked. I had a sirloin steak which was cooked to perfection, I can highly recommend the steak. Wish I could have given a sixth star for the food alone.
