Things to do in Southbury
Craft brewpub with live music and games.
Disclaimer: My first, and only visit so far, was on the Friday after Thanksgiving. AKA every hometown kid was back visiting from college, and it was likely busier than it is on your average Friday or Saturday night. This brewery is super easy to get to, right on the main road, and has plenty of parking. We arrived around 7:45 and had no problems getting in, but did notice that they hit capacity later on, and stopped letting people in. The line got LONG; roughly the length of the building. They would let a few people in every time people left. The bar, itself, is pretty big, with plenty of standing room all around, plus a handful of tables with stool seating. They have a stage where live music plays on prime nights. The band playing during our visit was really good, and had a great mix of music and mashups. In regards to the drinks, the selection is odd. As someone who doesn't prefer beer (yes, I know, I was at a brewery) I was happy to see that they do stock liquor and serve cocktails. However, I ordered simple "a margarita" twice, from two different bartenders, and got two different types of tequila at two different price points. PLUS one of them made it a double without me asking, therefor charged me for a double that I never asked for. #rude Additionally, they serve a selection of local brews, as well as nationally bottled brands. If you're in the mood for a light beer, your options are Coors Light or Bud Light... and they ran out of Bud Light. Woodbury Brewing has great potential to continue to grow, and I honestly hope that these kinks get worked out so that we can continue enjoying nights out here.

Sports Pub located in downtown Sandy Hook, CT with a wide selection of great food, craft beer and specialty cocktails.
This was a return visit with our grandkids. Once again all I can say is they have the best burgers in the area. Yes, it is a sports bar, but it is really appropriate for any age patron. Both grandkids had wings and said they we great. We will go back when in the area again. The menu is varied and there is a great beer selection. Parking is plentiful. Service is always great.Thank you so much for the kind words! We hope to see you again soon!
The Evergreen Tavern is an American-Style Tavern in Connecticut's oldest inn. Join us for great food, delicious cocktails, craft beers, wonderful wines, and a warm atmosphere. Cheers!
Recently opened and we were looking forward to another nice restaurant in town. They have a lot to learn about running a restaurant. First, the waiter was not knowledgeable and not attentive. When our guest spilled her drink - it took 15 minutes for him to find a towel/napkin to help her. He served drinks in compote glasses instead of martini glasses and did not know the difference. When the drink (2 oz) was sent back there was no apology. Wine pour was ridiculous for the price. One meal arrived much later than the other 3 - leaving us to wait and then eat a cold meal. The food was mediocre at best. Would not return and cannot recommend. They need to get their act together if they want too stay in business.

I had my wedding here and it was great. Tom and his team are very accommodating and reasonable too. Everything about our day was excellent. He did everything we wanted and we loved the place. It was so much nicer and more reasonable that so many of the other places we visited that were either wedding factories or totally over the top.

We went with family (and 2, 5 year olds ) for lunch after an event at the Oxford airport and waited over an hour for our food to be served, then one person in our party did not get their order. The wait staff was ok, but the kitchen must have been under staffed even though they knew an event was going on.The food was overcooked and the coffee was cold when I got it. They should have made a bigger attempt to, at least, feed the children firstThe food is over priced for what you get.

I stayed at the hotel and had dinner at the restaurant. Whereas the room prices were very reasonable, I found the prices at the restaurant to be high. Everything is a-la-carte. A chicken or fish dinner entrée runs $24 to $30 and does not come with a salad or vegetable. I had the blackened rock fish for $24. It came on a bed of rice and beans. Nothing else. No Salad. No vegetable. However, the food quality was good. Fresh ingredients. Nice plating. I had dinner on a weeknight at 6:30PM. The restaurant was empty except for me. However, the bar next door was full and noisy. As attractive as the restaurant dining area is, the noisy bar next door and the front desk across from the dining area distracts from the dining experience. With only limited dining options close by to the hotel, it is a reasonable hotel restaurant. However, if I was not staying at the hotel, I would have looked elsewhere for a more enjoyable dining experience.

We have been to Shadrachs many times over the past 2 decades. We just wish they would make a decision about what theme they want to go with and stick with it. If they would visit a place like the GW Tavern in Washington Depot, and gain ideas from them, they could replicate so much! It is a great looking facility that has wonderful potential.

I took our Father here for Fatherâs Day late afternoon. Very surprised that there were just two other tables since our other visits, albeit a few years ago, it was always very busy. Now I know why. Fatherâs steak was half grizzle covered with onions as a camouflage and my grilled shrimp was way over cooked. Service good, food terrible.
