Reviews on Pub food in Sosua, Puerto Plata Province, Caribbean. Sosua is everything you want a beach town to be. Clear waters teem with coral, perfect for snorkeling and diving. Above sea level you’ll find multicolored sands lined with beach shacks. This small enclave of the Dominican Republic was once a haven for Jewish refugees. Historic sites and synagogues offer great perspective on Sosua’s postwar identity. On a lighter note, a community of ex-pats helps fuel a boisterous, international nightlife scene.

Beautiful Beach Bar in Playa Sosua, DR.
Ate here every afternoon after scuba diving. Beer is glacier cold. The tacos are truly memorable. Highest points awarded to the fish (mahi mahi) and the pork tacos. Ask for guacamole & pico de gallo on the tacos. First runners up are the spicy shrimp, beef, and chorizo tacos. All of them have fresh, crispy shells and juicy meats. The delicious juices of meat & pico de gallo mingle and dribble down to your elbows as you take bite after bite of the best tacos ever. YasmÃn is a great server, quick and competent, and she remembers everyoneâs preferences (on a group of 8) just after the first day. Prices seemed reasonable and they take USD, even the larger bills. True sports bar with World Cup & Wimbledon on the multiple TVs.

Michael's is a little hidden spot up in what we call the balcony that overlooks the bay of Sosua, very known by locals around the community as our grandfather (Michael) build a little bridge from the side of the restaurant to a a big rock that is on the w
Without a doubt, the best meal I have had to date in the Dominican Republic, with an amazing view! Great food choices, though no parking or special amenities...if you're looking for 5-star comfort or' Chicness'...this is not it. The food and view and service makes up 50 times for air conditioning, etc.

Rocky's has an all you can eat buffet with ribs and chicken cooked on the grill on Thursdays and Fridays. The food was pretty good especially the ribs. Wish i could have ate more but I did eat earlier that day on the beach. Everybody there knows my name so I feel at home whenever I visit.

I had the opportunity to eat here a couple of times during my stay in Sosua. The food was in general good but one thing I did not appreciate was the inconsistency in the menu, i.e somedays they serve the wings with carrot and celery and cheese dip and others nothing, no explanation, no question to ask. Another thing the manager/owner of this restaurant needs to do is to explain to their staff everything printed on the receipt. All in all, I recommend the restaurant.

We have never had a bad meal here. The schnitzel is delicious. I always opt for the red pepper sauce and the spouse the one with peppercorn sauce. I myself don't care for it as it taste soapy to me but continue to try each time we come. But the pepper sauce is delicious though. Many times we have been there and usually it's the service that has been far from stellar but this time it was pretty good. So nice to see. We will definitely come back as it is delicious food for a decent price.

Had chicken caesar salad prepared from scratch right at the table, nicely presented and very fresh and tasty. My friend had salmon beautifully presented and tasty as well. A varied menu and attentive service makes this one I'll return to.

Stopped here for a couple of beers and a chat with a guy down from the Turks and Cacos Islands, where it seems to be too quite, so he comes to DR a couple of times a year to chat with the proprietor in the his old tongue. The great thing about this bar is that there is a good clean toilet for use by the patrons. The ice cold beers were served up in a cane cooler by a pleasant young waitress. Snacks too are available at a very reasonable price.

Under new management since I was last here and it's great. Had some really good meals lately here, ie., quesdillas (yummy), fish and chips, fish fingers and chips and Shephard's Pie, highly recommend them all. Service was excellent and the staff is very friendly and attentive.

After about 6 days of eating authentic Dominican food in Santo Domingo, I arrived in Sosua craving some American food! Well compared to Santo Domingo the pickings were extremely slim! So I checked trip advisor and the Jolly Roger was the top spot for American style food in Sosua and thank god I wasn't disappointed! We ate at this spot for the majority of our stay in Sosua. I had the chicken bacon ranch sandwich and had the chicken tossed in the spicy bbq sauce which was really tasty! I also had the wings which were fried hard just how I like! The only thing I didn't like is that the wing sauce was put on the side instead of having the wings tossed in the sauce. Maybe it's a Canadian thing? But overall I really did enjoy this restaurant!
