Stopped here on a Saturday early evening when we were needing water and food and drinks. We had been exploring and saw signs for the local brew fest that day and decided to give a stop. The bartender was very friendly, asking what we were doing in town and where we were from. He gave beer suggestions and also highly recommended the street tacos - any flavor, but he leaned toward the hotter ones - jerk chicken and pork. We went with pork and didn’t regret it. Serving comes with four small tacos but they are loaded! We shared and each had a few beers from the specialty menu. Everything was fabulous!

This was a good stop during an excursion to Placerville on motorcycles. It's a very casual environment, we were there in the late afternoon so the dining room area was pretty empty. Cheerful service was provided by Twila and we ordered a Diet Coke ($2.55) and a glass of Madrona Riesling ($6.48) to start, along with a Souper Bowl Clam Chowder ($5.95), Grilled Talapia ($12.95) and a Combination Linguine plate ($17.95). The chowder was pretty good, as was the perfectly grilled fish. My other half didn't care for the Linguine dish because she felt it was too spicy for her taste, although some might really like it for that reason. It would be a good place for a quick lunch if you're in the area.

Jack Russell Brewery Downtown

I've been to the Jack Russell brewery in Camino, which I highly recommend, so I looked forward to the Placerville brewpub/restaurant. It was a nice evening, so we sat on the large shaded patio, which was very pleasant.I saw a Help Wanted sign on the door, and I had read several TA reviews commenting negatively on the service. Well, they've somewhat eliminated that issue, at least on the patio. One orders and pays on the cash register kiosk, then takes a number to the table and the drinks and food are delivered. That's the first time I've seen that outside of a McDonalds. Interestingly, when paying, the lowest tip percentage that's suggested is 15% - you'll have to decide whether you think service still deserves 15% when you're entering the order yourself (you can override it with a manual amount). Nevertheless, the system was easy to use.I was looking forward to an IPA, but unfortunately they were out of the one IPA they brew. Oh well, I enjoyed the Irish Red. Our beers arrived promptly. I love good fish and chips, and theirs was excellent. The Mrs. enjoyed the day's special, the unlimited taco bar.Prices and the outdoor seating were fine, and service was fine too, if limited.2 thumbs up, but frankly, not enthusiastically.

Stopped in quite a few times with friends, with family, and by myself. The place gets some things right, others not so much. Good brewing in general with a broad range and creative recipes. Sometimes inconsistent, which is okay. The kitchen does a good job with good quality ingredients, like grass fed beef for their sliders. Decent salads. The pizza night is good. They change up the menu now and then. Occasional live music and other events that are varied. No TV screens, which is genius. Customers relate to each other more without them it seems. So credit to them for that. I travel the west coast brew pub to brew pub. preferring the smaller towns and venues for the local flavor both in the brews and the people. So, in comparison to most others, the service here is not so friendly, and there is no effort to be welcoming. Its kinda cold feeling in general and hopefully doesn’t reflect the greater Foothill personality with the great outdoor activities, hiking, river rafting, etc. Not that they have to be, but I certainly prefer some attempted warmth and friendliness with my beer at the local pub. I think the service is actually friendlier at the Placerville McDonalds. The other problem is that the acoustics are horrible. It’s deafening even when it’s empty. Some added aesthetics around the limited patio areas would help too.

The night I was there with a party of 4 we had excellent service and good food. Several of us had the 8 oz. Prime Rib which very good, little fat and nicely cooked. The entrees were served with a choice of potato dishes, and fresh vegetables accompanied the dishes. One had the Hamburger which is served between 2 toasted pieces of artisan bread. The patty was good size. The birthday guest had steak and lobster, with the steak being better than the lobster. All in all, a most enjoyable birthday dinner party. We did not think the prices were out of order. The four of us left very satisfied.

This place just recently opened. They fully remodeled the building - and wow, great job! And what a view - the deck is fantastic!! It's both beer and wine - wine by Nello Olivo; beer by a talented long time local brew master. They do a pretty good pizza as well. Lots of seating both indoors and outdoors. Easy access off Hwy 50 in Camino. This is a worthy stop if you need a snack and a drink on your way to/from Tahoe. I will be a regular!!

My spouse and I went out for Easter "Dunch", and it was great! He ordered the BLTA, which came on toasted sourdough bread, a bit too buttered for his taste, but the bacon was thick and not fatty, and the avocado pieces were big. He had the side of sweet potato planks, which have gone up since our last visit in November ($2.75 extra), but still were good, tho too much salt. I ordered the Hula Hog Taco, under the small eats, and they aren't small (this is a positive statement). Delicious sauce - chipoltle, and the flour tortillas were hand sized and there was oodles of pork, and I was full after eating it. We also ordered a Beer flight, 5 choices, and what fun and what a great way to taste some of the beer. Their choices in all are about 16 or so, so 5 x 4oz gives a good variety. We tried the Kino Hefe from Crooked Lane, the West Coast Wheat from Napa Smith -both of these were light beers, not bitter, and not strong tastes, but good, the Danish Red Lager from Figueroa Mountain - very good!, the Gneiss Stout from Solid Ground - tastes like a Rauch Beer from Germany, very smokey! and then the Old Town Brown from Auburn Alehouse, my favorite! not too strong, but a very nice taste and not too much alcohol. Emily was our server, and did a nice job, was sincerely friendly.

Had the beef stroganoff and it was.... Comforting and delicious! The chunks of beef were plentiful, the noodles were clearly home made, the spaetzle was tangy and the perfect accompaniment to the stroganoff, and server Debbie was excellent in her service and knowledge of the available meals. It was a great evening. We ended with the Apple strudel as a take home and it was the perfect sweet and delicious end to a great meal! My friends had the cordon bleu and the mixed skewer and they were very pleased with those meals. Btw, have the strudel with ice cream... Cannot go wrong! !

Wine tasting in the Fairplay area is fantastic. A some point you either need to stop for food or power your way through the day. The Pub is your answer. The Pub has, well, pub food. However, it is fresh and tasty. We had the BLTA and Club sandwich along with salad with perfect Blu Cheese dressing. The menu has a variety of options including a great assortment of beers on tap and of course, wine. Service is quick and pleasant and you will be back on the road for more tasting.

Seems you drive and drive to get to this little hideaway spot, but it's worth it. Friendly and prompt service, and food is really good. The atmosphere is really noisy though. Especially when they get a karaoke going. Hard to hear each other while you're talking. Especially liked the fries! Burger was a burger, and price was reasonable.
