Cafe Vivaldi

This cafe is the first where real espresso was offered in town, round about the turn of the century/millennium. Originally a flower shop of the same name, situated in a pleasant spot near the centre, St. Mikkel's Church. In the summer, pleasant outdoor seating. Always busy, and somehow the people running it never learned how to do quick service. If you have time to linger (and many in Slagelse do, it seems), this is a good place. Offers food as well but the cakes are better. Often full during the autumn-spring period - too small inside.

We spent two nights here in the Upper Hill (mainly because it was the only place to show the English football - on a massive screen too!). We ate here on the first night (great burgers and Salads - massive portions) and also had a selection from their impressive range of good beers, ciders and spirits. It has an eclectic feel (but not contrived) and they accommodated our 'take over' to watch the football with good grace (both nights the staff were very helpful and friendly). I believe as well that this pub is BOUNCING at the weekend however we had to fly back so won't be able to sample the weekend atmosphere.Next time we are in Slagelse we will be sure to come here again and try some more of their excellent food and hospitality and you should too!

Imponerende - virkelig !
