This restaurant enjoys a great setting but continues to disappoint due to a very unpleasant owner who seems to delight in being a jerk and putting off everyone on Shelter Island. Food mediocre, service mediocre, not at all worth a visit. Go to Marie Eiffel Market across the street or to Salt. Food better and they know how to smile and show caring for their customers.
This is special! A jazz trio plays in the background. Bar service is terrific. Food is absolutely top-notch. Great place for a date night out. Expensive, but really worth it; the food quality is amazing and well-prepared, allowing ingredients to shine. The music is a gift.

Stopped there on a Sunday afternoon for a beer and dinner. There were six of us. We found ourselves to a table in a mostly empty restaurant. We sat there...and sat there...and sat there. We're not demanding, but how about eye contact or a head nod??? Something!!! We pulled up stakes and headed out...To the Townsend Manor Inn...Great food and a better staff...

Enjoyed lunch here twice during our stay on the North Fork. Burgers were great as were the salads - everyone was pleased! Got to enjoy local wines and some local beer on tap. Service was friendly and efficient. Sandwiches are big and the fries and onion rings were good. Enjoyable lunch!

Although I was able to have a vegetarian meal (falafel), this was the only option. I was more impressed or I should say NOT with how the owner treated his wait staff. He was rude and obnoxious and if my kids worked there I would have made them quit on the spot. Our waitress was absolutely wonderful and I felt terrible for her. Hence we will not be going back. The food was nothing but ordinary and the drinks were weak. Seems like this business owner is only interested in seeing how he can take advantage of the local tourism.

Self-serve, family-friendly, waterfront dining. Specializing in lobster in the rough and other fresh seafood.
Stopped here for the first time because Claudioâs was closed for renovations. Basically the same menu and lobster rolls. Connecticut style lobster roll is butter with no mayo or celery. Claudioâs style has mayo and celery. Very good lobster rolls.

Stopped in for a quick bite. Good size Drink, for a reasonable price.$9-$11.Had the Reuben, and Spinach Salad, both substantial and good. The Corn Fritters, were pretty good, with dipping sauce in a To Go portion cup, found that odd for an in house plating.

LOVE the pizza, salads, meatballs and cocktails here! Great place to have dinner with friends or a casual date. It can get loud later on weekend nights so I recommend going earlier in the evening to get seated. This is definitely adults only and I've seen people drink too much and be very loud.

The Flying Goat wonât set the world on fire. Its food wonât banish the memory of super meals past. Nonetheless, the combination of the view, the drinks, the friendly, if not always efficient, service, and the capably prepared food offers you a most pleasant and, for Shelter Island, reasonably priced meal.Good hamburger and fries. Very good pappardelle with garlic shrimp and broccoli (all al dente). Flavorful and not overcooked sautéed spinach on the side. Delicious local Greenport IPA. And the magnificent view across the golf course to the South Fork in the distance.Whatâs not to like?
