Lovely village location tastefully done traditional country pub with more basis on food not drink. Small but perfect menu obviously all homemade and fresh however slightly over priced for example simple fish and chips £15.00 and I think cheapest on menu upto £28 for fillet steak

Checked on here first for reviews before visiting and had high hopes based on other reviews. But felt massively let down for the price. Sunday roast was bland, not even salt and pepper added enough flavour. Toby Carvery provides a better lunch. Positive was good gravy and large portion sizes, food served well within 10 minutes of ordering. Ordered a cheesecake and not sure where the cheese was, or how long it had been there for as the kinder bueno pieces in it left the sensation of a slug being in my dessert, didnât finish that either. Wonât return.

We visited last week and unfortunately arrived late as my husband for some reason took a very circuitous route! I was worried about arriving late but our apologies were put to one side as not being required. The meal we had was first class. I had fillet steak which was very reasonably priced as was absolutely delicious!. We have paid significantly more for lesser steaks in the past.Every aspect of our evening was superb, the surroundings, the food and certainly the staff who were efficient and very friendly.Brilliant experience and will certainly return.

Family meal on a Sunday, music blaring but then magically stopped 20 mins in ! Food good some of my familyâs veg was hard, i.e. broccoli and green beans. Chunky chips good and service ok, quite friendly. Puddings ok and range of drinks good. Nice and airy but no atmosphere. Scampi good but some meats tough, mainly pork. Would give it another go to see if it can be better. Want it to be cos itâs quite nice just not great !

A busy family-run village pub with a good reputation for its food. It has a bar with real fire, lounge, and large restaurant at the rear. The village has a series of walks through beautiful countryside with wildlife and the remains of Bishop Middleham Cas
Went for a meal with parents for my birthday, restaurant was empty apart from us but it was early and a Tuesday night. Food was as usual lovely and far too much to eat all of it. Can't understand the bad reviews on here as we been coming here for years and never had any problems. The worst problem is usually the entrance as the bar is very close to the door and the locals always seen to want to stand there, but they are always polite and moveBryan and Karin and the staff are always pleasant and helpful.
Where to eat Indian food in Sedgefield: The Best Restaurants and Bars
I visited the newly reopened Corner House in Sedgefield for quick lunch food with the family. After a nice refurb, they have only been open a couple of months and just (maybe only days), started to serve food. Not the best experience but will put it down to teething trouble. We arrived at midday to more staff than customers.... not a bad sign & maybe an indication they expect to be busy??We ordered drinks and quickly chose food order but couldnât place it due to âtill troubleâ. We were advised someone would let us know when the issue would be resolved. After a short while, we noticed a couple of orders being placed at the bar so decided to do the same. After 30 mins, we were asked our table number as they operate a pager/buzzer self-service system and had âlost an orderâ. Having lost confidence we asked for a refund which wasnât handled in the most polite manner. We probably wonât bother again.Disappointed as Sedgefield starting to have a few more options.

we stumbled across this lovely country pub on Sunday after a visit to Hardwick Park. The pub is situated in the heart of the village. We were greeted by helpful friendly staff, we were given a choice if seats in the restaurant. Very good menu, and very reasonable prices. The food was delicious, home cooked. very well presented, and served hot. we will definitely return.Thank you for your lovely comments. We are glad you enjoyed your visit

Booked this for my husbands Sunday family birthday lunch . I cannot believe what I witnessed today! After waiting 1hour and 30 mins for main meals, they eventually arrived. Only one starter was ordered so not sure on the delay. The food was average, Yorkshire puddings were tough and parsnips tough and burnt. However, we didnât complain as we had waited long enough for them to arrive. I did ask for more gravy when I eventually got hold of a waiter. When the gravy arrived I poured it all over my dinner and then realised it was FREEZING cold. My dinner was now freezing and inedible. I cannot believe the customer service I received after this!I spoke with the waiter and explained, expecting him to apologise and bring another warm meal. Mistakes after all can happen. However, his response to me was â well you have eaten half your mealâ, not the point but I hadnât , I had barely touched it!My meal was covered in FREEZING gravy !!! I am absolutely outraged to be spoken to like this, especially in front of my family. I then asked to speak with the manger, the waiter said that he was the manager but would go and seek advice ?!?! Bizarre!!!He then came back after seating and serving other people to inform my I could have a discount on my meal ! To say I was gobsmacked is an understatement! Were they going to count how many peas had been eaten! At this point my mum and children left the table and took them to the cafe over the road for desserts. A man came over to our table to take plates away and my husband asked for the bill. I asked to speak with the manager again, to which he told me HE was the manager!!! Odd! I explained what had happened . He said he was aware and did state that we should have been offered a replacement hot meal at the time, of which we would have gladly accepted. However, this was not offered , instead I was made to feel I was looking for a cheap meal. Disgraceful on what was meant to be an upmarket Sunday lunch!I cannot either understand why the manager , knowing the situation , did not come over to speak with us. Instead cleaned our table and didnât mention the altercation !He did discount my meal , not the point really. I ended up in the cafe , number 4 , over the road eating cake for lunch! Service was fantastic in there! We will certainly not be returning to the Pickled Parson. Dear Gail1275We are really sorry to read of your experience with us. We have fallen short on service on this occasion and we are sorry for this. I understand the manager did explain at the time that our normal standard should have been to offer you a replacement meal immediately and this did not happen. I believe the manager acknowledged this mistake and apologised. We will review this with our staff and refresh training as needed. We would like an opportunity to discuss this with you directly, if you would be able to get in touch with us on [email protected] Many thanksThe Pickled Parson Team

A restaurant with 10 rooms, a pub and a lot of character. We cherish the good things in life. We know a thing or two about impeccable wine - our list is extensive and we have a superb selection of local real ales. We serve bistro style food, with good hon
Arrived on a Saturday night to find a packed restaurant and busy vibrant bar. The place is really nicely refurbished and it has the potential to be a top notch establishment. The bar is well stocked and had a superb collection gins. Sadly the food didnât match its surroundings. Our starters were fine but my main and that of my friends were just to say luke warm. My main of duck tasted ok but just didnât live up to the hype of how busy it was and what lovely surroundings we were in.

Had an evening meal there . The food was good quality and well prepared and there or there abouts on price given the quality. The service , took about 15 minutes before our order was taken and then only because a guy on another table managed to raise awareness. Seemed a little disorganised . Other than that it was okBar prices a bit heavy for the area at well over £4 a pint for ordinary type beers. Would I use it again..yes if I was passing.
