De Monk is one of the coolest bars in the St Catherine district, a bar that every time I visit is always packed.I love the look of this bar,its a big barn of a bar,two roomed ,the main room is dominated by a solid wood serving bar ,great decor and furnishings and plenty of seating options spread throughout this bar, it's just a great place to enjoy fine beers and chill out in. We were here on a Friday evening, this bar was packed with a great atmosphere, we got served at the bar were we ordered a kreik beer each, beers were served in excellent condition, we stood at the side of the bar as it was standing room only and just enjoyed our beers. As it was such a hot and humid evening, a nice refreshing fruit beer was just what we needed, my beer was cold, sparkling and really easy on the tongue, a totally refreshing and delicious brew.On this visit I cannot really comment on the meals as we were only here for beers but I have ate here on many occasions over the years and the meals are just superb. We really enjoyed our beers in here and although our visit was only fleeting as on every other visit to here we had a great time De Monk is easy to locate on Rue Sainte Catherine. Opening hours are;Monday to Thursday, 11am till 1am. Friday & Saturday, 11am till 3am.Sunday, 1pm till 1am. A great bar,if your in the area well worth checking out.

The place have a super cool atmosphere (a lot of antiques on the wall, several paintings about Belgian beer culture). The staff was friendly and they have inumerous options of beers. Not to much options to eat (this is not the place if youâre hungry.

This very old pub/café covered in paintings and various historic memorabilia looks like it hasnât altered in 100 years and with its old tables and chairs it has a homely atmosphere. There is also a more modern area, obviously a more recent extension at the rear of the building although this lacks the traditional feel of the bar area. There is a great selection of beers and a simple traditional food menu. We were fortunately able to find a small table for two opposite the bar and spent a very pleasant two hours sampling some delicious beers. For food, we opted for one of their Stoemp specialities with sausage and bacon and a beef stew. Not what we would describe a âhaut cuisineâ but good comfort food to accompany their beers. Very enjoyable.

Excellent selection of draught beers with good descriptions. Not cheap but craft beers are usually very dear and I can think of more expensive places. A few bottles, other types of drink and some food. Music is too loud which makes it appropriate that one of the beers is called grateful deaf. It used to be that when you ordered a beer here they inflicted a little bowl of malt grains on you. That seems to have stopped.

We came here on Sunday late afternoon for a few drinks. It was busy especially outdoor area in front of the bar. All staff were very friendly and helped us to choose some Belgian craft beer that we had never tried. Slightly more expensive than some other bars but a lot better atmosphere and people here. Will be your favorite place if you are a craft beer person.

The pub is standard touristic bar in the center of cosmopolitan city. Service is great, beers are good and variety is huge. Location perfect, close to everything you need. However if you are looking for the real belgian experience, this might not be the best place to visit.

The best Belgian fries in Brussel. Everything is home made, fries, croquettes, schrimps, fish, beefstew...
Arrived on a cold and wet Belgian evening, hungry and a little frustrated having lost our bearings. Found this place using Google maps and we were not disappointed. Reasonable priced and a typical brasserie menu my husband had the Brussels stew and I had the marinaded brochette (beautiful flavour), both with fries. Both dishes were great and previous reviews have been right the fries are lovely!Definitely recomendMany thanks for your kind advice.See you next time in Brussels maybe?Best regardsAude
