This is a lovely bar. The service is excellent and the food sublime. The menu is based on local ingredients. The seafood chowder is a particular favourite of my daughter and it’s more like a meal as it’s full of fish. My favourite is the chicken, pesto and sundried tomato sandwich on granary bread. They also have a nice wine list. This place is always full but the service is so good they will always accommodate youHi Sharon,Thank you so much for your excellent rating and very kind review. We are delighted you enjoyed your experience at Scannells and hope you join us for lunch again soon!

Mary Ann's is a well established bar and restaurant in the beautiful village of Castletownshend. The current owners, Fergus and Patricia O'Mahony, are at Mary Ann's since 1983. We serve lunch and dinner every day from March to November and then November t
Our second visit. Even better than the first! This is a really nice pub, great staff and Fergus the owner is great company. He is very knowledgeable on wine, which shows in the excellent and serious wine list. That would be enough to get a really good review, but the crowning glory here is the food. Our lunch starter of mussels was tremendous, and the monkfish and risotto main was even better, very high quality cooking.Highly recommended.

Book as busy, tip ask for a table with chairs as opposed to stools (some of our party found the stools very uncomfortable). Nice atmosphere here and waiter had a certain charm and sense of humour which added to our evening. Food was very good with the seafood and pasta the stars for us. Menu offers a few different choices to other similar places. Nice wines available with the Chianti at €25 very reasonable. Nice place give it ago.

The Mountain House is a Steak & Seafood Bar along the Wild Atlantic Way. We serve a range of different wines and gins, along with gourmet coffees and tea. We have an outdoor heated eating area.
I visited Mountain House, Ardfield today. From the first glance it looked like your avarage gastropub, but it was anything but! I heard before that food is nice in here but when my plate arrived, my expectations were exceeded. Not only it looked like it came straight from some posh restaurant kitchen, it tasted heavenly. Scallops were cooked to perfection, and prawns with mango salsa... I am struggling to find words to describe that perfection. I was planning my next visit before even finishing my meal. I wish I could rate my visit today more then 5 stars. Simply amazing

I have been down in West Cork for the last three days, and have eaten in this establishment ever since discovering this gem of an eatery. If you read through my previous reviews you can tell that pub fare is not my normal choice of cuisine, and if you think this place serves pub grub you are definitely mistaken.Every dish I have eaten here has been a journey for my taste buds, as the head chef David takes cuisine and flavours he has discovered on his travels, brings them home and incorporates them into the dishes served in his establishment. From the Mackerel Platter to the Holy Land Hummus, or the Gravlax to the Moroccan Lamb, the depths of spice and flavour, not to mention the aromas are out of this world. Being located on the coast of West Cork all the fish is fresh off the boat it is practically leaping straight from the sea and onto the plate. As these are authentic dishes everything is made from scratch be that the sauces, marinades or paté, so be on the watch out for small fish bones, cloves, or little bits of stalk. So far I have only seen a tiny mackerel bone, but at least you can tell it's no Sharwoods/Uncle Bens specials.Every day there is a variety of fresh made desserts as displayed on the desserts board, my favourites so far are either the Chocolate Brownies or the Apple Pie, but I have heard great things about the Cheescakes, maybe I will try those tonight before I go homeAll the staff are locals and are super friendly and attentive to the guests needs, should . the restaurant is small in size however, so make sure to book a table for dinner, however I don't think you will regret the choice, I certainly haven't!

Rosscarbery is off the main road to Skibbereen and you have to detour to get there although a short distance. We did just that as it was lunch time. We picked Nolan’s as we thought it looked nice on the outside. The warm fire inside was a real bonus and pleasant sight. The welcome was friendly and the service was likewise. Our lunch of soup and sandwiches was excellent and certainly hit the spot. The price was also very good. This should be put on your list of places to go to if your want to stop for lunch on your way to Skibbereen or further on that route.

Had a good evening meal at the Glandore Inn after a long days travel - the pub was busy so luckily our B&B owner had booked us a table earlier that afternoon. Had a drink outside looking over Glandore bay, before being called to our table. Inside we were squeezed in a bit by the bar, but it was a was a happy, busy atmosphere and we were served by friendly and attentive staff. The menu choice was good and our choices (seafood and fish for starter and main) were very tasty. We thoroughly enjoyed our evening.
