Had read a review in TA and thought we’d give it a try. Was imagining a Hard Rock Cafe style joint and so pleasantly surprised it was far from it. Quirky wee spot, amazing waiting staff who appear to really love their work. Food was amazing. Music great and so so cheap! Great atmosphere and such a fun spot! Arrived without a reservation and staff did everything possible to make us comfy until a table was free. The music blew the electric so was lights out for a few minutes. Staff handled it amazing with torches in phones lit and renditions of Happy Birthday being sung until lights came back on. Plus we were treated to a shot as way of an apology! Best shot ever and as waitress said ‘it’s not really alcohol it’s more like medicine’ a must too visit in Prague! Thanks so much for taking the time to write such a beautiful review and all the kind words. I am so pleased you enjoyed yourself and had a good time.

Harken, harken, fellow travelers, as I deliver unto you the tale of our coming to the inn they call the Sad Man's Tongue. T'was a dry and bright Wednesday, I recall, five minutes to noon, and the drunken haze of our previous night had barrely faded when we stepped into the bar - its friendly shadows were calming to our aching heads, and I still remember the melody of olden days that reached us from deep inside. Under the eye of Johnny Cash - in peace may he rest ! - we walked down the steps and went for a table to break bread and quench our thirst that needed no beer nor spirit, but rather an old fashioned coca cola to wash our stupor away...Well it was only a couple minutes before we were all settled down and given welcome and menu, with cold drinks well served, leaving us all the time we needed to look around and fully enjoy what was offered here. And, oh by God, what an offer it was - what delight ! Ain't no diner nor burger joint, i say, that has ever so well encapsulated what we hold most dear of these forty or fifty years long gone, with its music and most simple style, to which no flash nor kitsch shall ever compare. And when Creedence's Bad Moon Rising rang out, I knew this was a place worth remembering...Within minutes only was our food served : glorious sandwiches these were, with chicken masterfully grilled, stacked with fresh tomoatoes, green letuce, thinly cut onions and upon which some cheese had been melted. Homemade fries accompanied the lot, and were done superbly. The bread was fresh and soft, and as I took a first bite, the content such vision had inspired on its own grew thousandfold. For the pleasure of the tongue, I was always one to care as much as the next man; and truly, to the hungry and the well fed alike, this food was divine. But I must say it is foremost all things else that had me conquered by the time we concluded our lunch : the breath of rock n roll in the air, the atmosphere of old, and the good care and kindness of a staff the likes of which I had rarely seen, surely convinced me this was a place unlike any other. When all was done and said, we paid duly the inn with gold - do not think you will pay with the means of a credit card in this hallowed place - and regretted nothing: for the price was more than correct, for such good meal. And what a pleasure it was to eat in the silent company of Lemmy, Sinatra and others, at the Old Man's Tongue, where all is plenty, and all rejoice. To our hostess, whose discussion and service were equally delightful, we bid good fortune and gentle winds; and to the Sad Man's Tongue, I dare not bid farewell, for I know that surely, we shall meet again.Thank you so very much for the excellent review and this wonderful literary review that would make even Chaucer's characters blush. You clearly put some time into this and I certainly appreciate it. I have shared this wonderful review with my staff and they are all thrilled by your words. We will be marking this as our favorite review. Thanks so very very much again :)

Great food + great personalities = great pubWe sought out Beckett’s based on the impressive reviews, and this was exactly the sort of place we were hoping to find. We were treated like friends from the moment we walked in the door, and we very much enjoyed the food and the beer. We watched a bit of cricket on the big screens, even though we don’t understand the game at all. It was really great that the bartender (who is originally from Ukraine) cheers with the bar patrons in their sports of choice (even if she’s not a fan of the particular sport!). That’s a special kind of hospitality!Hi Deirdre A,Thank you for taking the time to write such a nice positive review. We are glad to hear the visit lived up to expectations and you had a very warm experience. We will be sure to let Kateřina know you enjoyed her hospitality. We would like to wish you all the best and hope to see you in the future. Kind regards,Beckett's Management
