You canât fail to enjoy the food here. Great choices on the menu, freshly cooked. The chips are amazing, the best Iâve had anywhere in a pub restaurant. Friendly service, always busy so book ahead. The car park was pretty full when we arrived and not being local didnât know where parking could be found if it was as the pub is situated on a busy main road. That said we arrived when it was dark so didnât spot alternatives that might be easily seen in the day.

the Kings Arms has reopened on the 7th of August 2017 providing a fine dining service with exceptional quality of food and beverages. Now owned by John Wade and managed by Chef Paul Bussey and his wife Ycheng.
We went on a Saturday night for an 80th birthday celebration, there was 17 in the party. Everyone enjoyed the excellent well cooked food. We were not rushed at all. The young girl and the lad with the ponytail were pleasant, friendly and efficient. The drinks also kept flowing. Overall it was a great night.

Visited for the other halfs birthday on a Saturday night. Great service as always. Drinks served promptly. Plenty of time to peruse the menu. I had the fish cake starter which was huge, hot, tasty and filling. Then I went for chicken and king prawns in sweet chilli while the other half went for the mountainous sized mixed grill. Both were spot on. My main came with rice and chips when I'd asked for peas and chips but sides were happily changed within a few minutes and wasnt an issue. Couldn't manage a dessert and with a pint and a half of coke and a pint and a half of Guinness at less than £40 was stunning value.

I love the Burtree. The best little pub/restaurant around. Their food is amazing, never any issues from me or anyone I know. The owner is very friendly and welcoming. The older waitress does need to be more smiley though, it was like a chore having to serve us.It's always very clean and tidy, the car park quite tight because it's always packed.I had the beef roast, it was amazing, the gravey was spot on, the Yorkshire puddings are lovely and the beef is just the best. I will always call here.Monday evenings are 2 for 1 too.Hi Stuart,Thank you for your review and feedback.Lovely to know that your Roast Beef ticked all the boxes and we agree the Yorkshire puds are something special. We will have to have a little word with our serving staff, but we are only human and it could have been an off day.Look forward to seeing you again soon.

had the burger/sizzler combo, my wife got the same and for a pub chain meal this one was one of the best we have had, even though the pub was busy we did not have too long to wait, ok I had a voucher for money off (didn't tell the wife this) but still great value for the portion size.

Country Pub serving great food! Maybe it's the warm northern welcome, but that would be too obvious, or perhaps it's the curiously eclectic mix of the ancient and contemporary. It probably has a lot to do with the food, and the beer... Whatever it is that
Keep well away from this place. Camped for three nights. These owners are happy to accept large groups playing Lound music until the early hours, also no concerns with them smoking dope, shouting and using abusive language towards my family . Electric hook up constantly going off so don't expect that to work either. Complaints made to owners that made no difference. Please think twice before going here.

Went to the Bay Horse for lunch. Good home cooked food, huge portions and reasonably priced. The desserts are lovely. Friendly staff and pleasant atmosphere.

Chicken fajitas - very tasty and the chips are to die for. Chicken terriaki noodles - too many onions and far too much sauce - the noodles were swimming in sauce rather than being coated with it. Toad on the hole - tough sausages, overcooked with similarly overcooked Yorkshire pud - crispy and tough to eat. Overall we wouldn't rush back.
