Sunnyside Tavern is not your average local pub â itâs one of the most charming restaurants in Newcastle, Australia. Our menu offers guests an inspired array of light meals and mains. We endeavour to use locally-sourced ingredients of the highest quality.
Sunnyside Tavern offers excellent pub dining - in fact except for the bit where you line up to order and pay for your meals you wouldn't even know the place is inside a pub (at least within the dining-room proper, you can eat closer to the bar if you like). Service is excellent, attentive and professional, decor is stylish, tables well separated, lighting subdued ... and then there's the meals, which are excellent - plus great value. I had the root vegetable & three-cheese lasagna - delicious and $18 for a very full plate. (No room for dessert, which also looked quite good.)
Hotel Jesmond is a Newcastle institution and a favourite amongst the locals. Weâre a classic pub with modern amenities - thereâs something for everyone at The Jeso! Enjoy a casual family meal, soak up all the sport action over a couple of beers with your
Lunch at the former HallâsHaven was never like this. The latest iteration of this Jesmond landmark is as a modern, clean-lined but warm and friendly place to spend a few hours over a long lunch with family or friends. It has plenty of tables, a good menu, prices typical of a modern Newcastle gastro-pub and friendly-happy staff. The pork ribs, salmon and gnocchi dishes brought to our table, with prompt efficiency, were tasty and well presented. Servings were not huge but adequate.

Situated on Newcastle Harbour, the Queens Wharf Hotel is a venue not to be missed. With many spaces to discover. Boasting a large Wharf front area overlooking the water and passing ships its the spot to sit and take in all Newcastle has to offer. Upstairs
We chose to sit outside on the deck area beside the river. A very pleasant place to sit in the shade, on a hot day and you usually pick up a breeze. You can also sit upstairs on the verandah or indoors. We enjoyed a great fish and chips and a steak. There is a wide range of different beers and cider on tap and there is a good wine list. Child friendly. Some parking (paid) is available near by.

Previous owners seemed to know the area, had great meals which were always hot and delicious. For this reason this was our Sunday night, kid free local dinner every weekend for the last 2 years. There was always good, cold, constantly changing beers on tap. Staff were friendly familiar and welcoming. With new owners the place has become âclinicalâ, theyâve removed all the quirky decor, and are really âcleaning the place upâ. I found the staff to be unfriendly and have a chip on their shoulder. Although I believe the chef is the same, the food was sad and bland. On one occasion the food was that bad I couldnât eat it (burnt pork belly). On the same occasion I ordered a vodka, lime and soda which was revolting (I donât know how you stuff that up?!). Iâm sad to say goodbye to our local but we wonât be back as the experience is no longer enjoyable.

The Dockyard is a friendly bar and restaurant on the waterfront in Newcastle. Great food, drinks, and a view. Our menu is available for all day dining.
I have enjoyed two outings to The Dockyard and must say it's a great place on sunny and overcast days if one is appropriately dressed.Plentiful choice of draught beers and a good selection of hot bar snacks and meals. The beer prices are quite excessive but the food is pretty good value and quite healthy. The staff are friendly and will explain the intricacies of the specialty brews of the week/month if you wish to know.Nice place for a one off ... but take the bus or light rail. Few of these interesting beers are low alcohol and NSW's new drink-driving limits have no tolerance and limited access to a magistrate.

Iâve been here on a few occasions, and it always a pleasant experience. The food is consistently of a high standard, although not always perfect. The presentation is good, the atmosphere is relaxed and the variety of beer is good. If you sit inside, it is not particularly noisy and easy to converse with dinner mates.

Well must say the head waitperson and a fantastic bubbly waitress made the night , so polite and sooooooo good at their jobs . They are both a fantastic asset to the restaurant . Now to the food I had lamb just perfectly cooked a lovely pink colour and the presentation on the plate would have done a 5 âï¸ restaurant proud ... zucchini flowers were a little on the small size , but tasty . All in all a great mealIn nice surroundings. Not noisy like most hotels and great team members .. WELL DONE

Hidden away in the back streets of Merewether, The Restaurant at The Burwood is a bit of a local secret. With a three schooner rating from the Sydney Morning Herald Pub food guide, the restaurant is proud to be recognised as one of the top pub restaurants
We were a very large group at a post wedding get together. A huge challenge for any kitchen when 90odd people arrive at the same time. The food was excellent, perfectly timed too . Not sure how they managed to cook so many steaks so well in a short space of time. Good service. It deserves its reputation.
