Went with family for Sunday lunch. You would need to book as it gets very busy. Very down to earth place with large portions. Some of our group had a small plate and some medium but we all had plenty of meat with a good choice of roast potatoes and vegatables. I am Gluten free and could eat all except the stuffing and yorkshires. Prices were very reasonable.

Fresh food with a focus on local and seasonal produce. Finalists at the Suffolk Food and Drink Awards 2019 Waitrose Good Food Guide 2020 Reader Recommendation
My first visit to this pub restaurant with my wife and a relative. It has a good ambience and the service was spot on.Good choice on the menu. Just had a main and dessert. We each had different main courses: duck, hake and beef. All very good. Two of us had cheese and biscuits (although we only had two of the three cheeses, as the other cheese had not been delivered that day), and my wife had the pannacotta (the best she has ever had anywhere!). Not the cheapest, with the cost of side dishes, but everything is excellent. Would be a great place to go to celebrate a special occasion.

Been coming here for a few years and absolutely love it. Carl and Maz are excellent hosts and the atmosphere is warm and friendly. So many beers to choose from and new ones being added all the time. The Gin Festival last year was great and good times had by all. Sunday Roasts are like you Mum makes, delicious! Love that itâs very much an adult environment which is refreshing these days. Live entertainment draws big crowds as does the Quiz Nights. Highly recommend this pub, a real gem in Stowmarket.

We are a Community run Inn serving great food, with a wide selection of beer, wine and soft drinks. Situated in the village of Battisford the building is over 300 years old, combining a tradition Suffolk pub with a modern menu. Come down for lunch or brin
Visited this lovely country pub early on Saturday evening. We were given a warm welcome by staff. We hadn't booked a table but as it was early we managed to get a table but probably best to book if your visiting at a weekend. We ordered fish and chips and battered haloumi. Both were beautifully cooked and presented. The menu has a good choice and looking and what other diners had ordered and enjoyed everyone seemed happy. Southwold beer was well kept and good. Our next visit we'll make sure to try a dessert. Do try to visit this lovely country pub you won't be disappointed.

We called in to the pub on the off-chance of getting a table for lunch. Although it was just after mid-day, the tables were filling up with bookings and walk-ins, but no problem as we were given a table. The popularity signals good things to me.The pub has a nice, traditional and comfortable country pub feel. It is also dog friendly. The menu is varied with lots of tasty sounding dishes some of which are good old fashioned items and others more adventurous.I thoroughly enjoyed my meal, it was hot, plentiful, nicely presented and tasty. The staff were very attentive, but didn't over-do things. My wife felt that her main course was not cooked to her liking, so without any hesitation the plate was taken away and replaced with a newly cooked dish, unfortunately this was also not to an acceptable standard for her, she felt it was over cooked and dry. Without hesitation the server offered her a different dish, my wife declined. When the bill came, much to our surprise, the main course had been taken off. For us the manner with which my wife's "complaint" was handled was a master-class in customer care.We will certainly go back and I am happy to recommend this restaurant to my friends too.

Stopped here early evening on way home, was surprised at how busy it was for a Monday but was quickly found a table and made very welcome.Scanned the menu and decided to go for a couple of pizza's.Made and cooked in a great pizza oven you can see from the garden.Great pizza's, cooked to perfection with loads of toppings, great taste and value.Staff were warm and friendly and service was very good, pizza's came out in good time.Didn't find any negatives.

Under new management and reopened as of the 7th of March 2017. We are still 100% vegetarian however if you are looking for the previous occupants they have moved to the 'Walnut tree'. We hope to see you soon!
We visited here whilst on holiday for a weekday lunch as a party predominantly made up of vegetarians, including three young children. We were quite excited about the prospect of a vegetarian pub where everyone would have a full choice of dishes. It's fair to say the pub could do with a bit of a face-lift: the décor and toilets are a bit tired. However, don't let that put you off because the food is absolutely fantastic. We ordered some starters to share and then a main course each. All the dishes were really tasty and good size portions. The favourite dish was the cottage pie, which was like a hearty warm food hug. Children are also well catered for, and there's even a little playground in the garden (though sadly we didn't discover it until we were leaving!) There only appeared to be one man doing the front of house/waiting, but he was excellent: really friendly and helpful and service was prompt considering we were a party of nine. All in all a very enjoyable experience, and if we're in the area again we will definitely return.

I used to go the Lion with my father when he was a resident at a nearby care home. He liked it, and now he is gone I still go there. The latest visit was today for lunch, which you order at the bar. Went with a friend, and we both like the place, our second visit. A good choice of menu and not overpriced. Good choice of drinks and friendly staff and ambience good. Parking on site, what more could you want?

We serve the amazing craft lagers and ales brewed fresh by Calvors just a stones throw away, alongside a great locally sourced menu. After aquiring the pub in 2012 we set about refurbishing the charming 16th centuary building into a warm and welcoming fre
It was my birthday and was taking the family out to lunch. There were 6 adults and a baby. We had booked to go somewhere else but due to a misunderstanding the place was closed. My daughter quickly phoned the Rampant Horse who said of course we can accommodate you no problem. There was a good selection of meals to suit us all and a childrens' menu. We all had different meals and the two men had ribs and chicken which they said were delicious. My fish was beautifully cooked and the asparagus served with it just right. If you like chocolate the dessert menu will delight you as lots of choice. All in all a lovely meal with excellent service.
