Visited on a Tuesday lunch. Typical homely pub as you would expect here. No airs and graces, just good ale and good pub food. Nice roaring fire, reasonable prices, fast service, allows dogs in the bar area. Not much else I can say. Hits the spot for us and would have no hesitation in going back again.

Love the building. Love the interior décor - so cosy and inviting. Long time since we ate here so decided to book a table to enjoy what has always been delicious food. The menu is varied if a little pretentious but the food in the main was enjoyable. My husband can recommend the whitebait and I can recommend the potted smoked salmon. The steak was delicious but the fish pie was a little disappointing. There was no smoked haddock in it and the vegetables served with it were very overcooked - bendy beans and soggy carrots!! I prefer my vegetables more crunchy. The staff were very friendly and apart from forgetting to bring us the bill -we did go to the bar to pay!! - the service was very good.Hi CherublancashireThank you for your lovely review, we are thrilled you enjoyed your overall experience at The Queens Head. We are sorry you were a little disappointed with one of the dishes. I do hope that you mentioned something to your server at the time as we would have been more than happy to correct any wrongdoing. I will pass your feedback on to the team and hope to see you in the future

This is a pub in the lake district
We had a great meal here! The food was good value, nicely presented and service swift! We had intended to go to the Masons Arms however it was busy and seemed quite claustrophobic! Although we were passing here and popped in, we were really glad we found it! Thank you for your review, we are so glad you decided to stop off with us for a meal and glad you enjoyed! We look forward to welcoming you back in the near future.

We stopped by the Sun for dinner whilst camping in Hawkshead. Very friendly welcome and good selection of real ales. We ate the mushroom risotto and the veg curry, both of which were really tasty. Would happily return next time we visit the area.

Family owned and run Hotel, bar and restaurant in the Centre of Bowness on Windermere, the perfect place to stay for your Lake District break, within close walking distance of Lake Windermere and everything the area has to offer.
Managed to find a table here in busy Windermere. Good menu selection but we opted for the traditional Sunday lunch. The meals arrived piping hot with homemade Yorkshire puddings and fresh vegetables and roast potatoes. The only thing missing for me was mash potato which is my favourite on a Sunday lunch. Lovely place with great views, friendly staff and quick service. Worth the little walk up the hill. Dear Reviewer, please be aware that we no longer respond to your reviews on an individual basis. If you have been kind enough to leave some kind words about your visit we thank you very much and hope to see you again. If you have had a genuine reason to raise a concern about your time at The Angel Inn then we hope that it was dealt with by a member of staff at the time of your visit and we were able to rectify the situation. However if you are still dissatisfied with the way your situation was handled then please feel free to write to me personally by post and I will be happy to deal with your situation. Just had a couple of nights here and what a great find. Perfect location in the middle of Windermere with off street parking. Lovely large room, big enough for a table and chairs in the window which we had our breakfast at. Staff lovely and friendly and very helpful, nothing was too much trouble. Had a meal here which was very nice. Would definitely stay here again.

Lovely quirky, Lakeland Pub and Hotel. The public areas are delightful and full of very comfy period furniture. |The food was very very good and the portions are massive. Be careful if you have a starter as you may not finish your main course! Nice friendly staff who provided a good table service.

Traditional Lakeland Country Inn next to Beatrix Potterâs Hill Top in the lovely village of Near Sawrey. With slate floors, open fire and oak beams we offer hearty and tasty food with local Cumbrian Real Ales, a fine wine selection and a good selection of
Popped in for a bit of lunch after visiting Beatrix Potter's house. Very relaxed atmosphere. We ordered sandwiches, a wine and a local beer and sat in the nice garden. Sandwiches came. Mine was absolutely full of beautiful ham, and my wife's must have had half a (smoked) salmon in it. Top notch. We didn't want to leave so had to order more drink. Glad we were travelling back to Bowness by Mountain Goat mini-bus and boat! Really good place.
