Went to the Butchers because we knew what to expect a warm welcome a wood fire burning in the hearth and good staple cooked food.We were gladly not disappointed. Sat by the fire we enjoyed our good exmoor ales and our hearty meals a butchers burger and a very good steak. We have always had a warm welcome from the locals and conversation ranged from the football scores to local events. An enjoyable visit...

We ate an evening meal in the Stag and to be absolutely honest it was far from good. The chicken dish was served with soggy mashed potato and the chicken was so tough that my wife couldn't eat it. In fact we had to complain and the waiting staff were very surly and condescending. After some discussion and their manager tasting the chicken they finally took the price of the dish off our bill but their attitude was not at all friendly or helpful and other diners were not impressed either.Would we recommend the Stag for food? Absolutely NO!

The Quay Inn - where everyone is most welcome. We delight in offering the best, locally sourced, quality, foods and real ales at reasonable prices. The menu changes with the seasons. We also LOVE MUSIC! Quay Roots at the Quay Inn, frequently presents local,
..and arrogantly rejected. Booked this with Expedia and will be taking up with them direct. As introduction, I have been on TA for a few years now and have stayed in lots of places and reviewed them all - I use the recommendations of TA users a lot to decide on places to stay and hence my desire to provide feedback to equally help others. I am always fair averaging 4 ish...Anyway, arrived here on a Friday night to be greeted by the assistant advising breakfast was 8.30-9.15. I had telephoned at the time of booking 4/5 weeks previously and spoke to an elderly woman to advise we were intending to do the local âparkrunâ which started at 9am and could something be done for us to be told âno problem, well sort somethingâ. However, the assistant had to refer to the owner - the âlovelyâ Collette we assume - who basically dismissed any possible advanced phone call and point blank refused to do anything about breakfast which had been paid for, whether it was to plate up so we could eat cold, or make us a breakfast bap, or anything really. She was Very condescending and rude - Great customer service, NOT!Anyway, moving to the room - the toilet greeted us with a present (see photo) and it would not flush(the cistern did fill up overnight and we were able to âone flushâ at 6 in the morning), and the rim appeared dirty (look closely) - first time for a long time we had to put toilet paper on the seat before you know what. Disgusting..There was a hole in the ceiling and filled with what looked like tissue albeit it could have been a tampax?? - see photoThere were fag burns on the mantel piece (see photo)The TV/ WiFi reception was rubbish with no BBC1 but a few Welsh channelsPoor refreshments choice including no biscuitsThe noise pollution - you can hear everything generally and certainly in the next room, the guy clearly liking his Coronation St catch-up until the early hours of the morning, and then to be woken by his dog at 6am. Not the best night sleep....Just an awful experience and people like Collette really do bring down their profession. AVOID this place at all costs.Firstly anybody reading this review will be see how arrogant you are and how arrogantly you behaved towards the lovely young lady who greeted you that evening. When I came behind the bar that evening you already having a hissy fit with my staff (unacceptable). What you actually asked for was a breakfast to be cooked and served cold which I wasn't prepared to do. There was no mention a sandwich or a roll something you just decided to make that up, I suppose because it sounds better. None of my staff are elderly so I've no idea who you spoke to and as such a seasoned traveller I would have expected you to get a name, so I don't believe you spoke to anyone here. A couple of my other resident witnessed your behaviour and were, quite frankly, appalled. I have lots of lovely guests that ask for something to take with them if they are leaving early and I am happy to oblige. The breakfast is a complimentary addition to the room and was available from 8.30 so it would have been possible for you to get something to eat before you left as the start of the run is less than 2 minutes away and doesn't start until 9, but of course that didn't suit you. When you left in the morning you raised none of the supposed complaints you have included in this review. You did however threaten my staff, which she found very upsetting (again unacceptable). A word of advice if you want people in this industry to put themselves out for you, speak to them properly. We are not servants and deserve to be spoken to politely.Perhaps you should let the lady who was with you speak to the staff in future as she was lovely.I wish you well for the future and hope you enjoyed your run.Kind regardsThe lovely Collette (as I am when spoken to properly).

Large and comfortable and clean. This is an OK place. One cask on my visit, Tribute. It's perhaps a bit corporate, but is decent enough.

The Smugglers Inn offers a cosy bar, a delightful restaurant and accommodation by the sea at Blue Anchor Bay in Somerset. We are on the edge of Exmoor and the Quantock hills and make a perfect base for walking holidays. The West Somerset steam railway run
We ate twice at the Smugglers due to the excellent food. Good choice on menu and superb specials board. I had Rice Pudding with mango Chutney, delicious. The menu had a good choice on.,pies ,fish etc.. not the cheapest place weâve eaten but worth every penny . Dining room beautifully laid out and airy but suggest booking as it gets very busy . Food not rushed as cooked fresh and it is a place for an evening out . Separate bar , plenty of parking, and I believe there is accommodation as well. Need a car due to location. Would certainly recommend. Dog Friendly .

Loved the carvery so much we visited it twice - as they do a carvery on Wednesday as well as Sunday. Both times we were given wonderful food, beautifully cooked. One of the best things is that you get decent portions of meat here, rather than the scratchings at some other carveries! The gravy is amazing too, along with a good selection of veggies. The best carvery we've tasted in the area at a reasonable price.

Historic Harbour side Pub Inn & Hotel. A landmark building with its history of hospitality going back over 100 years. Our atmospheric restaurant and pub food experience will be very much 'River Cottage' style with Seafood, Fresh Fish, Local Farm Produce,
We ate in the restaurant section of this place and it was amazing. The room was lovely and the service was spot on. There was a lot of choice in the menu and some additional specials. We had some pheasant and venison for the main course and both were absolutely stunning. Desserts were good and we found a lovely portugese red wine in the list. A great place that i would love to return to.
