The Malt is a stylish yet cosy pub in the heart of the picturesque village of Aston on Trent. We offer a range of fine cask ales and premium lagers along with a good choice of wines and soft drinks. We aren't a restaurant, we are a pub offering great pub fo
We went to the malt for Sunday lunch today. We have visited before and had a good meal, but were disappointed this time for a number of reasons. The roasts were massive, which can be a good thing but the plate was overwhelming in size and predominantly beige. It was difficult to identify where the potatoes started and the Yorkshire pudding started, it all seemed to meld together. The leeks were undercooked. My mum ordered a small portion- great that this is offered but in practise it looked very much like the same size of meal but just on a smaller plate, which was overwhelming for her. The worst thing is that my niece came along too and ordered the veggie option of courgette and halloumi stack, which was accompanied by the same veg as the meat eaters including (wait for it.....) cabbage cooked with bacon!! Unforgivable. They very quickly changed it for a fresh portion but this is basic stuff that isnât hard to get right.I would be willing to give em another try maybe midweek were it not for the tv screen that has been installed in the dining room. I do NOT want to sit down for a meal out and watch someone elseâs tv choice. I go out to eat to share food with friends and family, and talk to them, not watch tv. So i am afraid I wonât be going back.We are sorry to have received this review. However, we feel it is slightly unfair in how you have graded us. We do offer a generous portion of Sunday Lunch which is excellent value at £10.95 or £16.95 for 3 courses. It may have appeared overwhelming to you but you did all have 2 and 3 courses. We pride ourselves on our service levels and this has never been questioned before. The mistake with the vegetarian meal was a genuine one as our chef had done several of these meals where the customer wanted the cabbage and bacon. This was rectified immediately. We could also have changed any of the veg that wasn't cooked to your liking but none of your table said anything. The Tv has been in the room for over 10 years and if you had mentioned that you didn't want it on we could have accommodated that. The TV is always muted whilst diners are in. We are a pub which does food, good food not a restaurant! The fact you have eaten here before and enjoyed it, where you didn't leave a review and have a future event booking with us, which I sat down for 20 minutes with you to discuss and plan is very disappointing that you would just choose to review us so negatively. I have however confirmed with your family that you do still want to go through with your event so we look forward to seeing you then.

The Nag's Head at Castle Donington has been under new management since March 2019 and we offer a good selection of home-cooked food at a reasonable price, we have a function room available for private parties and have a nice cosy snug room on the side of
Lovely people but disappointed with the food. Husband had gammon and egg but the eggs were over cooked. The homemade chips were very soggy, so he didnât eat them. I had a Cajun chicken salad, chicken was cooked well but the Cajun spice was a little bland. Having paid almost £11 for the salad I was a little underwhelmed that it was just lettuce, cucumber and tomatoes ( with a little bit of red onion). it would have improved it greatly by adding some more salad veg, peppers, beetroot coleslaw? Anything really to improve on a very basic salad. The music was also very loud.

2nd visit to this rejuvanated pub only called in because we had such a terrible afternoon tea just across the road at the donington manor hotel which I would not recommend. The castle pub is very vibrant and has a good mix of clientele nice selection of beers the food we four had was excellent no complaints from anyone. The young staff are very polite and very hardworking we still didn't see the much admired roof terrace as we were enjoying ourselves in the bar maybe on our 3rd visit we will check it out.I would highly recommended a visit to this lovely pub I just wish I lived nearer.Top Mark's to all the Staff you are very good at what you do.please don't change

We are a traditional village public house and restaurant with bags of character. Offering a wide and varied range of real ales and freshly prepared home cooked food. Meals can even be purchased from our very own Village Shop!!
We came across this pub when our walk was rained off. It was a typical country pub full of people chatting and enjoying themselves but it is obvious that it is also a "proper" restaurant laid for "proper" diners! However, we ate in the pub and the food could not have been any better if we had seated ourselves in the restaurant as it was excellent. They do advise that food is cooked to order and so there may be a wait but the atmosphere in the pub was lively and entertaining so was not a problem for us. This was a good find on a miserable day.

Beautiful 16th Century Pub with Accommodation having a comfortable, traditional feel with a slight contemporary twist. Here at the Hardinge we are focusing on keeping the great british pub alive, with fantastic kept ales, a beautiful wine selection and ho
Called to book a night here in November, and was quoted a rate of £85 a night even though the website quite clearly states £75 a night for a Saturday reservation. When this was queried I just got the reply of âoh well thatâs the rateâ. I would like to suggest they update their website and work on their customer service a little. For the sake of £10 a good will gesture could have been offered. Many thanks for the feedback. We will take a look at this and take action where necessary.

We went here for a family lunch for my sons birthday. Really great food and a special feel to the lunch. Not your standard pub. Excellent for an occasion.

Located close to the village green in the historic conservation village of Breedon-on-the-Hill, the Hollybush Inn traces its origins back to the 17th Century. In the heart of the village, the pub is a protected Grade ll listed timber framed building which
called into this pub today and was made very welcome by the owners. It is dog friendly so we were able to take our dog into the bar. The food was very well presented, and will be calling in again soon.

We took refuge on a cold and wet âsummerâ day, and felt welcome immediately. We chose standard pub meals, which were all tasty and well presented. The ambiance was pleasant, and we would call in again if in the area. A surprise was the chocolate factory in the garden!

Nice setting, and pretty pub. But inside everything was a bit dated and sticky. The staff seems mostly disinterested. Not rude, but not exactly the warm Derbyshire welcome. Chose burgers and they were ok - floury white buns, nice salad, huge qualities of coleslaw, but the chips were just horrible and undercooked and chewy. You can park in the car park, go for a walk and if you eat/drink after, you don't need to buy a parking ticket.

Harpur's of Melbourne is situated in the heart of Melbourne in South Derbyshire close to East Midlands, Donington Park and the M1, M6, M42 network. The warm welcome from our staff will ensure your experience will be one to remember. If you are looking for
We visited twice recently, first time for a few drinks and the second time we had a meal. Excellent standard of food, really delicious. Friendly staff, good atmosphere but very noisy bar. There is also a restaurant upstairs which may be quieter. We shared 3 small plates to start and both had a lamb dish for main. Including a bottle of wine £67 but worth it.
