My husband, 2 kids and I stopped for lunch and were very happy we did! They smoke their own meats and make fantastic homemade bbq sauce (bought a pint to go) Great lightly smoked chicken wings are a must try. Friendly service too :)

Go where the locals go when in Manitowish Waters. Great home made pizza. Beer and mixed drink prices are reasonable . Excellent Sunday breakfast. Friendly people and great service.

This is a great place for Friday fish. They have several specials, each of them good. Reservations are pretty much required unless you want to wait an hour for a table.

TA needs to separate the two types of reviews here for clarity. PPM&S is primarily a bar on Co. Hwy. W in 'downtown' Manitowish Waters next to the dam that impounds the lakes that are the centerpiece of the area(walk across the parking lot and you can fish the tailrace of the dam). The bar sits facing the road, while the 2 story motel building sits at a right angle facing the river down over the hill behind the bar(see their website). At $60 a night, this was a deal - not the $250 a night, 2 night minimum for a local condo. The owners obviously care about offering a decent place to stay and renovated this older building into something nice. My missus didn't complain so it must be good. It is clean, simple, and actually the staff service was above average - not what one would expect. The rooms aren't fancy but large and nicely appointed - double beds with pillow top mattresses, new coffee maker, nice furniture, large and clean bathroom and shower, clean linen. Chairs on the porch in front of the room for lounging, or the patio deck that connects the motel to the bar.The bar caters to a younger, working-class crowd and the motel to outdoor types like fishermen and snowmobilers. Noticed several workers staying here as well. Not really a family place, a local cabin would work better for that. There are minor draw backs - no A/C, which usually isn't a problem up here. And it does take a while for the water to get hot - just be patient.Compared to some of the fish camps and motels in the South I've stayed in for fishing, this place is the Taj Mahal. Definitely a decent place to stay if you're up for outdoor sport.

My family had pizza here for dinner on a Saturday night. They had gluten-free pizza which is nice to find in northern Wisconsin. My daughter had the GF pizza & my wife & I had the regular pizza. The pizza was OK. Other items on the menu looked overpriced since the dining room was pretty basic. If I'm paying $25-30 an entrée, I'd want nicer surroundings. I don't think I'd eat here again.

The service seemed slow - maybe it was what we ordered - but the portions were huge. The Irish stew was great, but the shepherd's pie seemed to be made with instant mashed potatoes.
