We were greeted by a very friendly and funny barman. We ordered dinner, which was delicious, and were looked after by a lovely waitress. We didnât need pudding but they were too tempting to resist! Am glad we didnât resist as they too were delicious. The landlord chatted to us and recommended a few places to visit. Overall an excellent evening. Thank you!

We ended up trying Thomas Tripp, as other pubs in the area were booked-up on the Saturday night. Not busy when we arrived and swift attention from our server boded well. We ordered pizza which seems to be the house speciality. The Fiorentina was quite good with an additional goat's cheese topping but the Cajun Prawn and Avocado unimpressive. The prawns were minute and very few. The avocado was 5 small chunks that amounted to about 1/10th of a whole fruit. These 2 key ingredients were almost insignificant in the pizza, resulting in it really being tomato and cheese. We ordered a cole slaw side salad to share, but when it turned up the portion was tiny and consisted of raw cabage and grated carrot, showing zero imagination. Our server had never re-appeared in all the time we were there and eventually we went uip to the bar to pay. When the cole slaw and pizza were mentioned, the barman repeated several times that those were the portions. We're unlikely to return.

Popped into Smugglers Inn, was welcomed by friendly staff behind the bar. Chose to sit inside but conservatory and gardens where also very inviting. Lovely home comfort feel to the whole place, but would be good for meeting friends & colleagues too.We chose a selection of dishes, from the daily specials board and regular menu. The food came beautifully presented, the whole plate was full of fresh flavours & colour. We really appreciated how it all came in a timely manner and all dishes at correct temperature. Well done all, in the kitchen, good team working together.

Traditional British Pub. Please note that we are not open all day, except on Sunday's, and that the kitchen is closed during the afternoons.
We decided to have lunch here today and what a mistake it was. I chose faggots with mashed potato and vegetables but the faggots were dense and solid and seemed to be just compressed meat. I think that the potato and vegetables were straight from the microwave and had lost any flavour that they may have had. My wife chose the Dover sole and couldnât eat it! The fish was completely overcooked and there was some strange substance covering it, this was supposed to be some sort of crumble but..... There was very little flesh on the sole and there was no way that I was going to try it. To sum up, my starter was ok but both main courses were disappointing and £45 wasted.

I am so disappointed to have had to write this review but have been here many times for evening dinner and Sunday lunches and has always been so good that I have recommended this place , but unfortunately tonight was awful. From start to finish the service and food Was appalling .Drinks order not correct , ordering another round of drinks took half an hour , the food was disgusting my friend had salmon which was lukewarm and had what could only be described as a dried out piece of shoe leather , but we were told it was a rosti.Soup was served no spoon was with it had to track one down ourselves , I had chicken curry which looked as bad as it tasted and I just had to leave it all .The flatbread with it looked as if it had been left out for a day or two was totally stale .Not once were we asked if everything was ok and clearly the waitress must have known as we said we have been waiting half an hour for our drinks .Also when the waitress took my food away it was untouched but nothing to ask if anything was wrong .The attitude of the waitress was couldnât care less . I actually did say to one of the waitresses whatâs gone wrong here as always been good here but I explained itâs been awful from the service to the food and she said she would let the manager know .No manager ever came over too see us except when we paid the bill and she said Iâve taken a round of drinks off for the drink mix up and havenât charged you for the curry that you didnât eat .I think that was very poor considering the whole evening was a total wipe out .The manager who is usually there when I have been is a man called Darren but he was not in tonight unfortunately as he has always ensured good service and good food .its a shame as I will not be going back again or the other three people that also came said never again .

A historic country pub close by Lymington marina and the sea wall.
We looked this place up as we love seafood , but things went rapidly wrong. We thought we would have a medley of starters with fries. So we chose the tempura prawns, whitebait and the herb crusted halloumi. So so disappointing!! All was from the freezer and deep fried, dripping and with fat. If we wanted that we could have gone to Iceland. We could not eat the whitebait and when I mentioned this to the waitress, she was rude. " oh we have never had a complaint befor". I am a qualified chef and am not easy to please, but this was just lazy and stupid. As I said, can not say re main courses. But why do frozen crap starters??? Not! Recommended.Thank you for taking the time to voice your concerns to the world that we thought were dealt with adequately and civilly at the time. At the time of your meal you only complained about the whitebait, the rest of your plates were cleared of food and not complained about. The white bait was then removed from your bill. I donât think there is a pub in the world which sells unfrozen whitebait, as a chef you would probably know that, like 99% of non chefs do as well. Iâm not sure how else you could tempura batter a fresh king prawn without deep frying it either? The halloumi is fresh made and yes deep fried. âDripping in fatâ is subjective, much like describing battered king prawns, whitebait and halloumi as a seafood dinner. I do hope you try us again for the other 15 or so fresh fish specials on the black board most days. Regard, David

Good pub grub, the steak and ale pie was delicious and the chicken very good too, the bread and pudding okay not as good though. Friendly service in good ambiance. Just a minute of the main Lymington to Christchurch main coastal road.

A friend and I decided to try Sunday lunch with the new landlord. We both chose Roast Pork, which was amazing, but sadly not hot. They werenât busy, so I guess the meals had been left on the pass too long. We were hungry and thought that if we complained there would be a wait and they might be microwaved. No one came to check if we were happy with our meals. When we paid the bill the landlord simply said they couldnât have been left on the pass ... I wonât rush back.
