Nothing fancy, just simple, tasty fresh, honest food. This is a lesson in how to run a bar/restaurant - friendly, attentive and very efficient.Fantastic, Thank you so much and hopefully we will see you again very soon!

The Old Horn Inn is under new ownership and management. Since Easter 2019 we have been stocking local ales and providing home cooked food using locally sourced ingredients. We are dog friendly. Now open for light Lunches, evening meals and Sunday Lunch. W
Well I donât know what a previous trip advisorâs problem was, but there are some who donât always quite get Yorkshireâs dry humour. The carrot and ginger soup was awesome, oven baked cod with avocado, prawns with white wine cheese and home made apple with tangerine crumble need I say more. None of this bought in, family pub chain heat up a meal stuff going on here. Exceptional food and to be fair just two beers on but they were good ones. More a locals pub but there were plenty of visitors in enjoying their meals ( the fish barely fitted on the plates). Good value and company, though you do have to go out and find this one.

We only called in for coffee whilst driving to Alnwick but I am glad we chose the Richard III Hotel. It is an interesting, old-fashioned pub with a distinct leaning towards the Sport of Kings as the rooms contain a lot of horse racing memorabilia. The welcome was friendly, even though we were only having coffee, and the service was quick and efficient. The coffee was good and, looking at the menu, there seemed to be a good choice of meals. Hopefully, next time, we will have more time and be able to try the cuisine.

The Fox and Hounds is a family run CAMRA award winning public house in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales. The Fox and Hounds offers a range of cask real ales including 2 locally brewed guest beers. It also has a home cooked food menu using local ingredient
Never been before. We were staying at the Wensleydale Heifer which is a minutes walk away. Proper jukebox. Proper ales and beers and a good selection of every spirit. We had a warm welcome and met some lovely people and their dogs. Good pub grub menu too.

Stopped in for lunch and bowled over by the menu and service. Just off the road but restaurant has southerly aspect and large car park. Great food and decent pint.

This pub is well worth your time and money. Good choices on the menu at reasonable prices, a pleasant bar dining room with other rooms available away from the bustle. We chose a lamb and a salmon dish both well cooked and presented together with a couple of home-made soups which were delicious, hot and filling(with chunks of lovely bread). All for £39 pounds to include an above average tip...and well worth it too. Great evening.....accomm. available and a large camp site very close, so book ahead.

One of North Yorkshireâs most iconic bar and restaurant destinations......The Friars Head is a beautiful venue in a truly stunning location. Positioned amongst the rolling countryside of lower Wensleydale but close to Bedale and Leyburn, itâs an ideal se
We went to this restaurant as the one we had booked had a power cut. The Friars Head is beautiful inside, and overall the food was nice, a tad bit overpriced but still nice. We were sat in what appeared to be the conservatory, last table on the right hand side, by the fake orange tree. It was unfortunate that the area was covered with flies. As we sat down the waitress removed 3 dead ones off the table, but then they continued to drop around us, in the end we counted 12 dead flies by the time we finished our first course. We didnât stay for the rest, got the bill and left. The table we were sat at was covered with others spilling and overall messy. As we left the restaurant we looked at other tables and they seemed ok and clean. Maybe we got unlucky, but I am not going to return there.

Traditional country inn with flagged floors and low beams.
We visited The Three Horseshoes whilst on a visit to the White Rose Candle wokshop next door. The inside of the pub is light, open plan and suitable for bringing your dog. All of the staff were friendly throughout our visit, especially when it came to fussing over our dog. There's a nice selection of local ales on sale, most notably the Wensleydale Brewery. The food is of a very good quality. I decided to have a Bacon Bap with Chips on this occasion and the bacon tasted of a very high quality rather than mass produced fare. The only concern expressed by the people in my party about the lunch was the size of the portion which was very large and unexpected. (They had the Hot Beef and Onion Baguette with Chips). One of the party suggested having a two tier approach due to the size of the baguette with the current of option with chips and a slightly cheaper option without chips. The Three Horseshoes is a nice pub in a lovely village which is ideal to visit as part of a wider tour of the Dales region whether you're travelling by car, like we did, or on foot. (There was a leaflet available promoting circular walks of various distances with the pub as the focus).

Ordered beef medallions- supposedly with fondant potatoes- got one old roast potato with dodgy sauce full of cornflour! £24.50! Staggering- pub food at its worstThanks for taking the time to review your meal. You did in fact get fondant potato, braised for an hour in stock and butter, no semblance to a roast......it came with 8 oz of Beef Fillet cut into medallions, in a sauce that had no cornflour in it at all!! Not sure what you would normally pay for an 8oz Fillet Steak but we feel the dish is fairly priced.....and no extra charge at all for a side dish of 4 different vegatables!!!

We stayed overnight, as well as dining, at the Sandpiper Inn and found it faultless. On arrival, before opening time, we phoned and were promptly met at the front door and shown to our room. Details of our dinner booking were confirmed, as well as the time that breakfast is served, which was reassuring. The room was comfortable, decorated in keeping for a quality country inn, relatively spacious and had fine views over neighbouring properties to countryside beyond. Mandy provided a friendly greeting at the bar and, in fact, everything front of house. She also kept us informed throughout in relaxed and reassuring fashion. This reassurance extended to dealing with our inquiries about gluten-free food with all the information at her fingertips. It was a Tuesday evening and both bar and restaurant were busy without being noisy; in every respect it was a comfortable place to be. Each course at dinner was a delight and exceeded our expectations. The food was attractively presented, interesting without being too challenging and perfectly prepared. We tried a wine from Portugal that was new to the wine list and loved it; what a great recommendation and served at just the right temperature. The young waiting staff didn't put a foot wrong.Despite the room being over the bar and entrance onto the street, we were not disturbed by noise at all. The bed was a standard double; we thought perhaps a larger bed might be more comfortable but we slept well - even missed our alarm! Breakfast was just right - delicious and wholesome without being too heavy. Again, Mandy's service was spot on and she also handled check-out. In passing, she mentioned that the double beds are being replaced with king size - so our only improvement idea is already in hand. We felt that the pricing was very reasonable. It was not a 'budget' stay but taking the price and quality together, we knew we'd like to come back again, and soon.
