I ordered the Two Eggs (scrambled), bacon (crispy), home style potatoes and toast (rye bread). I really thought my breakfast was goodâ¦lots of scrambled eggsâ¦bacon just the way I like it..and the rye bread was perfect. I wasnât too crazy with the sauce on the potatoes but they were still good.Carol and Sue both ordered The Highlander â Home style potatoes topped with two eggs any style, ranchero sauce, melted jack and cheddar cheeses with smoked sausage, bacon, ham and choice of toast or tortilla. We went to Hennessey's because they gave us coupons in the Inn By The Sea welcome packets. We thank businesses who do that.

This is a casual, friendly, and satisfying place to have a meal. We really liked the patio and service and drinks were great. They really know how to make a margarita! We tried the Bacon & Cheddar Burger and the Mushroom & Swiss Burger (both $12.95) and they were very good, as were the fries that went with them. If you're looking for a nice patio where you can go dressed casually, then this is a very good choice. And they allow pets on the patio too!

Café la Rue translates to "the street," and in La Jolla all streets lead to La Valencia Hotel and her chic, casual bistro designed as a European brasserie perfect for people watching. The eatery's natural light and airy art deco-inspired ambiance is accen
Just had dinner for birthday and was utterly disappointed. Food is mediocre: vegetable dip was a block of cream cheese with lettuce as garnish, ordered strozapreti pasta with wild mushroom, hazelnut, arugula and lemon zest with brown butter sauce and got pasta with what looked like canned button mushroom slices and a few slices of almonds in wine sauce. I asked the waiter if it is the right dish and he said yes the mushroom are white not wild, the menu said hazelnut but it is wrong and the chef does not like arugula so he did not put any. Seriously?Dear Catherine,I am so sorry to hear that your recent dining experience at Cafe la Rue wasn't to your (or our) expectations. We very rarely deviate from our recipes, so please know that your comments have been taken to our culinary team for further review and action. I hope you will offer us another opportunity to exceed all expectations in the future. Kind Regards,Melissa King, Marketing Manager

Took my daughter here for lunch. It was a business crowd mostly. Everyone there was fantastic in terms of their customer service. We got seated immediately and got drinks very quickly. We ordered appetizers and got them fast as well.My daughter had the chicken sandwich entree and I had the Zucchini Noodle Blackened Chicken. Both were delicious and the server ensured that the meal met all of my dietary needs (it can be hard to find gluten free and dairy free food). No complaints about the food nor the service. Great decor - nice that there were TVs broadcasting live sports games all around.Only reason it did not get 5 stars is because we ended up paying over $60 before tip for lunch. YES - we got appetizers, but generally wings and chips & salsa will run a total of $15. Here it was closer to $20. My entree (which was DELICIOUS) was not any more than the entree salads (which I considered) and ran near to $20 as well. They do have a lunch special section, but there are no entree sized salads or as many healthy options (they have an awesome âenlightened entreesâ section in their menu.I hope they make more healthy lunch choices in the future. Other than that, we will likely stop by there for dinner another time.

The roasted cauliflower appetizer is outstanding! Unique and very tasty. We ordered a variety of street tacos; the pork and fish were our favorites. The Aqua Fresca is also good. A little pricey though...lunch for 3, without any alcohol, was $70+tip. But definitely worth a visit. They also have their own, adjacent parking lot, which is handy when visiting this area.

Best burger I've had in ages. I ordered the Santana Burger, so flavorful! Highly recommended! My husband ordered the coordinates burger, which is a little simpler, but totally delicious! Upgrade to the parmesan fries, you will not be disappointed. Great beer selection as well. Will return next time we are in La Jolla!

Had a really fun Friday evening at Beaumontâs. They have live music late in the evening which was lively but a little loud because the place is pretty small. We did eat dinner before the music started, it was good bar food - nothing special or memory worthy. Fun night but not because of the food.

Took our grandson here for our last night (this trip) dinner before heading back to Tucson. Thoroughly enjoyable and our server, Sophie, was courteous, helpful and pleasant. All our food was delicious and hot...the firecracker shrimp was particularly tasty.

Stopping by at Barbarella in September/October is a must!Barbara started her custom of âenthusiastic decoratingâ many years ago and the Shores wouldnât be the same without it even though Barbarella is now under new owners yet they are keeping up with great traditions, great food and great staff. My two favorites on the menu are the Bib and Blue salad with grilled atlantic salmon.....the salmon is done to perfection! And my other fav is the pizza max.... can be ordered any time, breakfast lunch or brunch or di ner. Thin crust, salmon, capers, and craime freche. Whatâs not to like? Delish.Parking is on the street... be patient and persistent, try side streets.Seating is available inside or outside.I have reserved the patio for breakfasts/brunches for about 25 people and Barbara used to offer a fixed menu with a sweet and a savory offering. This is a wonderful setting for a breakfast/brunch. Going early affords people easy parking. Not so easy at lunchtime.Enjoy!

We were staying just outside La Jolla, and found this by chance. It has its own micro-brewery and was relatively quite as early May.Our starter was a shared Hummus, and this is due to huge portions in the states.mains were a Cheddar burger and a Farmhouse burger. Both cooked to perfection, and generous portion of fries.#Drinks were two 9oz beers and a Mionetto Prosecco split.Total bill $60.68 plus service charge of 20%.Service was good and a good atmosphere, a good place for reasonable price eats.Graham, Thanks for making Karl Strauss apart of your road trip! We are so glad you had a good experience !Cheers!
