Kanazawa's rock bar. The universe's rock bar. Good selection of drinks, some food as well. Check the menu. By the way, there's a standard ¥1,000 cover, but it's worth it for the universe.
I was travelling with my girlfriend around Japan and we had an absolute blast. Words don't describe... such an incredible country. But out of all the places we went to and saw, this was the one place I found myself constantly telling friends about when I got home. From the moment you walk in, it's just epic. Our eyes popped out of our heads! The pictures above are good but seriously, this place is so unique and so full of character, it beggars belief. The owner is also a unique guy. Super friendly and accommodating. We spent the night chatting with him (obviously in English) and some of the other customers around us. So much fun. At one point he turned the background rock music off and we wondered what was going on. He then walked to the back of the place and got one of his guitars off the wall. We heard the amp click and buzz and then boom, full on live rock music and REALLY good at that. We looked at each other in astonishment!A few hours later and some other customers came in. I guess they were regulars as, again, the owner turned off the music, went to the "live" area and a couple of the new customers followed. One on drums, one on bass.... oh, man... it was INCREDIBLE.Long story short, if you're in Kanazawa, GO TO STURGIS.You'll have a very, very good night and one hell of a story for your friends.

I cannot begin to describe the flavors of the fish I had that night. In fact everything we ordered was way above expectations. We had gone to their original shop but it was full, so we walked a bit (5mins) further away and found shop #2. So glad we did!! Everything is worth a try!! Go early.

There are beautiful red meat dishes such as domestic beef lamp meat light grill. It was soft but has a strong thick taste. We enjoyed them with a assorted plate. And also chicken steak with roast garlic flavor sauce was really nice. Here's located in downtown Katamachi (ççº) where hotels and restaurants near Kanazawa castle gather.

Whether youâre desperate not to have to eat another Japanese meal, or you are just looking for some variety, or youâre an American-foodie... Blue Moon offers it all: solid hamburgers, Cajun jumbo, caesar salad, quesadilla... the dishes, the way they are presented, the plates on which the food is served and the accompanying salt shaker and ketchup dispenser... it reminds you of american food. Authentic, as is the american trained chef. Not expensive. Fresh ingredients. Friendly, English speaking service.
We are a cozy bar which is loved by locals and travelers from all around world. We are located in a hostel however, it doesn't matter if you stay in our hostel or not! You can enjoy local beers and local drinks as Kanazawa plum wine and sake with some sna
We stayed at the Emblem Stay and went to have a drink at the bar located near the lobby. There's a large variety of beverages. We had awesome cocktails with japanese gin! The atmosphere there is great! You must get there at least once when you get to Kanazawa!

I like the fish ânodokuro â more than tuna. A bowl of rice with grilled nodokuro on top is so tempting to me. Wish I live here and can have this simple dish frequently.

The lonely planet described the place as inexpensive and specialised in "oden". The place was packed with people, the mood was cheerful and the (young) staff very friendly. What's wrong then? First, we were handed over an English menu with no prices, which already caught our attention. Then, out of the blue, the owner inquired about our accomodation, hum hum. But, you know, we're in Japan where everyone is so honest (a statement we would have fully endorsed before this experience) and "oden" is meant to be cheap (pretty much like "tapas"), so let's order! Meanwhile we caught a Japanese menu (with prices) to try and match with the English menu. That way we got an (over)estimate for what we ate and drank. When asked for the bill, the owner claimed an even 30% higher amount w/o any detailed bill. When asked for it, she first looked embarassed, then showed us the order list for a second before taking it back, carefully turning the sheet : ouch! Eventually we paid what she asked (as I said "oden" are cheap, which made the rip off even lamer) but this totally spoiled the evening. At the end of the day, we do not recommend the place.

The small restaurant is located a little off the beaten track in a quiet residential area. It is beautifully furnished and you are warmly welcomed. The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly. The served sushi and other dishes are deviating from the standard and are interpreted somewhat more freely. And that's good, because everything was very tasty. The choice of drinks is also very good. The price is absolutely reasonable. A great location in Kanazawa. Gladly again. From me to the team: æé£ã

After a busy day of sightseeing, with tired feet, we wanted a beer after looking around Higashi Chaya District. Then we had gyÅzas as a snack, more beer, and ended up ordering their fresh and delicious pizzas. Not very Japanese (aside from their craft beer brewed onsite), but just perfect. Friendly staff and good music.
