This place is off the beaten path, but a Huron classic. If you’re visiting the area and want a taste of the local flavor, stop in to the Sand Bar! While it feels like a shot and a beer joint there are many families that enjoy dining on Pizza, burgers, fries.

Main Street Tavern

Friends told us to try the Main Street Tavern and so we did and have been back several times since. They have great burgers and the Cuban sandwich is quite good. Excellent sweet potato fries and coleslaw too. The real treat is their revolving choices of draft beers from craft breweries around the country. Am shocked not more area restaurants haven't caught on to the craft beer craze!!! Atmosphere is definitely bar scene but fun, gets a bit loud when there's live music. Prices are very affordable - and the service is consistently good. I recommend it!

Has a new name now the Rustic Oar not sure about management. My husband and went for drinks and snacks. Located next to a hotel on the water way. There is indoor and outdoor setting along with a full service bar outside with tv's. The drinks were mixed just right and the bartender was friendly and chatting. We ordered soft pretzel sticks with honey mustard. They came out warm I could have ordered more. Great little bar.

We stopped in on a late September Sunday afternoon for lunch. We both had the local burger with onion rings - thay were excellent! Our server, Yvonne, was very friendly and attentive throughout. The place is on the Huron River and it was great fun watching the boat traffic go past! The site includes a very good dock that one can moor at while having a meal.

Been going here for years and each year it gets worse. Usually start the season with good food and good service and by July it is totally a waste. This year is the absolute worse for the beginning of the season, Noticed they had Mesenberg barbeque on the menu which another table had and said was good. However there were 4 of us and not one dinner was correct not to mention the time it took to get them. Had a Solberg burger which consisted of fried bologna, pepper jack cheese and a Hamburg on a bun and that is exactly what I got! No lettuce tomato or onion, nor was I asked. Asked for medium and it was wellll done but not as well done as hubby's which was way over cooked and should not have been served. He would have sent it back but was afraid it would take another hour to get. Friends ordered plain wings and came out with a spicy barbeque sauce which was a complete turn off for him. Not into spicy or coated wings. How hard is it to make them plain? His wife asked for the perch lightly breaded and they came out battered and deep fried. Breaded is an option on the menu. They did give her breaded but they still weren't very good. Not even sure they were perch. Felt bad for the bartender as he was filling both positions as he had sent home the waitress as they had not been busy. Then he told us we were in competition with other large table for wine and only had two Chardonnays left (this is not unusual at this place, actually quite common each year last two or three years). It is such a shame. It is a neat place to sit and enjoy the outdoors in the summer. Had high hopes this year but each year seems to get worse rather than better. Won't be back! What a shame!!!!!
