The Fox and Goose is a family run pub set in the heart of the tranquil village of Greywell, Hampshire. This superb example of a 16th century Inn is located just a few miles from exit 5 of the M3 between Hook and Odiham. The pub is an ideal place to meet f
We enjoyed probably the best pub roast chicken we can remember in a long time. The chicken was succulent, gravy tasty, roast potatoes beautifully crispy on the outside and fluffy in the middle, veg cooked fresh and not overcooked (a refreshing change from most pub meals), and all served with a smile. This was all washed down with some well kept beer. What more could you wish for? This is a delightful, dog-friendly, quaint country pub.

Wonderful meal here with colleagues last night. Always a friendly welcome and quick to be seated. Superb starters all round from mushrooms to gnocchi to sardines, then the main meal with two magnificent fillet steaks cooked to absolute perfection, and also two trout fillets which looked wonderful.Phil was class as always and this place never misses on earning itâs well deserved 5* review!

Four of us arrived for lunch on Sunday, my Wife and I had the fish and chips, which was very large, well cooked with nice crispy chips, peas and salad, another of our party had the roast lamb, which she was very pleased with, and the other member of our group had a pizza, which he really enjoyed. The garden is nice to sit in with views across the fields, whilst the interior of the pub is old quaint country pub style, and was quite busy inside. The staff were very polite and attentive. My only criticism, is that the outside area could have done with a tidy, the block paved area had weeds coming up through them.

We visited the Leather Bottle after hearing good reviews but unfortunately it did not live up to expectations. On arrival the table was not ready which is no major concern as had drinks in the bar, the Prosecco was flat so had to resend it which wasnât a great start. It appears to many corners are being cut with both the food and staff.During each course the main hero of the dish was good but the accompaniments were lacking, the scallops were good but bacon tough and chewy and the dish like warm, the steak dishes had great steaks but over cooked oven chips and the hot waffle isnât hot! Staff were less than attentive with empty plates sat on the table for well over thirty minutes and difficult to try and find some one for a drink at the table with all of our parties drinks empty throughout the starters. The house white wine tasted as if it could have been nice if cold, mine was sent back as Luke warm and the replacement glass was no better, it was the same temperature as the house red. With so many good places to eat locally a great disappointment.

What a good find, I am not sure that it should be called a Steak house, none of us chose steak , we had differing dishes, all of which were excellent. The beers and wines were good too as was the friendly service. We will definitely return.

A popular and friendly high street pub, inn and dining establishment. The Red Lion is part of the award-winning Red Mist Leisure family and has a strong reputation in serving delicious, fresh, local and seasonal dishes and drinks that everyone will enjoy.
Often drink in the bar and I find it very friendly, comfortable and they have a good selection of beer. I took a friend from work to eat there and it was disappointing. I had the pork Chop from the set daily menu. The chop was tiny, in fact I would say it was not a chop as I always thought chops were quite large, had a bone and a decent rind on them. It was served up with cabbage, about 8-10 green beans a similar number of sliced carrots and mash. The main problem was it lacked flavour, it was devoid of seasoning and was served with a very thin, watery gravey.Sorry to be so harsh but I was in fact looking forward to the food, I didn't want the usual burger or deep fried fish hence I tried the 'traditional' fayre...mistake.I'll continue to drink but perhaps will avoid the temptation to eat.Dear Jeffwkirby,Thank you for your feedback, we are pleased to read that you find our pub friendly, comfortable and a great drinking venue. We are sorry that your recent dining experience was not as good as your previous times in our pub. We take all comments on board and we will definitely share yours with the kitchen team. Our midweek menu changes every week so we hope this last experience will not deter you from returning to try new dishes from this menu.Looking forward to see you soon, Tiago

Beautiful village pub in the Hampshire countryside. Serving well kept real ales, interesting freshly prepared and locally sourced food. Whether your visit is just for leisure, business or a special occasion we are sure you'll find what you're looking for.
We were staying at a nearby hotel and this was the closest to us - sadly not the best - food was very slow and the loos were extremely unclean. The food was average but once itâs taken so long to arrive and you have kids beside themselves with hunger and boredom you donât have much room left to enjoy it. The worst thing was that there were clearly locals who got served first but had ordered after us ! Very much a locals pub and not somewhere to go for a family meal. Really saddened to receive this review. I have sent a private message, an attempt to make amends and gain more information so as to de brief the team. We have had a couple of very busy shifts recently where we struggled to keep up a bit as well as a bit of a technical situation in the kitchen - we thought we'd managed to pull it off - obviously not! The main point I'd like to get across is that under no circumstances do we ever serve locals/regulars faster than anyone else. We value all our patrons - otherwise we'd never get new regulars. Maybe it was what they ordered? I hope you do get time to respond but in the mean time we are going to crack on with being the family pub serving great food (with clean toilets) that I feel we are.

Went for lunch with group of walkers. Everyone enjoyed their food. I had £7 goats cheese baguette which was generously filled with cheese and salad. Excellent, best sandwich have had recently. Pleasant staff and good service. Nice pub atmosphere.

17 adults and 8 babies descended on the Hogget for lunch and we were all pleased with the service and food. I had a burger which was very tasty and my husband had the charcuterie board which had some little extras on that you wouldnât normally expect. Everyone left feeling satisfied and so I would recommend for other large groups.

Award winning independent family owned free house. Daily changing menu cooked with local ingredients when available. We are able to source world award winning cheese, lamb, eggs and game when in season from our village. We have four real ale pumps and sel
Called in by chance on Sunday lunch landlord really friendly and chatty. They promote various Gin's, today's was Portobello Road & gooseberry. Wife tried one, said very refreshing. Lovely varied different to the norm selection on the menu. Service was brilliant, food piping hot and tasty. Would highly recommend, will be sure to visit again if in the area. Well done and thank you.
