On visiting Hereford after over 30 years thought we would try what was our old local for lunch.Obviously changed a lot.Unfortunately the lunch did not come up to expectations. One of us had gammon ok but to salty same for the fish & chips. Two had the homemade pie again very salty ,mash sort of lumped on the plate and the cabbage was cut with all the stalks still on could not eat it.Service not top notch either.

Craft beer and real ale bar situated between the Cathedral and the river Wye in Hereford. Cool and quirky decor combined with the ambience of a traditional boozer with reconditioned furniture, modern fittings and a large range of beers, wines, spirits. Se
We visited The Firefly one weekday evening. The interior is like a traditional pub-turned-hipster, with retro furniture and lighting - giving the place a traditional yet contemporary appeal. The barman/waiter was very friendly and polite, made us feel welcome and he hovered to the table a couple of times to ask if there was anything we needed. We had Bahjis with lime pickles (DELICIOUS) to share as a starter and then we each had a main each, followed by lemon curd cake for dessert. The food was very well presented and tasty (one of us had never been to a vegan restaurant before and he was positively surprised by the result). Our only criticism would be that one of the burgers (Big Mac) was a bit on the dry side (easily remedied by adding some extra sauce) and the cake, while sweet and, to be honest, amazing, was very sugary. The range of drinks was also excellent and we were given a taste of one of them to help make up our mind. All in all, a very well-presented, friendly spot which we warmly recommend. WOULD I EVER RETURN? DEFINITELY!

A family-owned pub, cafe and restaurant in the charming Herefordshire village of Wellington. We offer a wide selection of spirits, lagers and speciality local ales and ciders, and we offer an excellent selection of fresh, local, high-quality food.
We are here for our anniversary and everything was very good. Menu is not âvastâ but this is a good sign in my opinion. A select amount of food cooked well. A great pub in a rural setting. The specials board has a number of grills on it based on the best selection from the butcher. I had the 16oz tomahawk and it was the best steak I have ever had. We are lucky enough to live in the village and ate here just after the pub reopened and the meal was very average, pleased to say now they are over the teething problems this is a great choice for a lovely meal that is not in a big chain.

We stumbled upon this little pub by chance. We were a little early as they don't start serving food until 7pm. That wasn't an issue as we went through to the lounge and had a drink while looking at their menu. There was also a vast list of specials for both meat eaters as well as vegetarians. I chose the scampi and chips from the main menu while my partner chose the steak and ale pie from the special board. The meals arrived promptly and were hot, tasty and a good size portion. Very good value for money. On this occasion we also decided to have desserts. My treacle sponge pudding and custard was very nice. The staff were very accommodating as we had just turned up without booking. They made us feel welcome. For a busy pub the parking is a little tight. Overall a good value experience.

The picnic Bench looks superb and is excellent, great crispy cod and fries, and the burger is a decent size not a slider, two hot cheese dishes, Pims glass and Cider for adults are nice palette cleansers between bites. Scones and dessert options were equally good. An excellent place for afternoon and evening meals. l was a tad envious of the dishes passing by but after a picnic Bench l couldn't eat anything else. Well worth several visits to go through the menu as it all looked good. Nice bar selection of ales and for those summer evening a Pins jug for a tenner, excellent value.Seating outdoors at front and rear.

This is a carvery, not always my favourite food, but I absolutely cannot fault it. Everything was really tasty from the generous portions of meat to the gorgeous veggies, my favourites were included in the many vegetables offered, red cabbage and cauliflower cheese. Lovely roasties and gravy. Staff were lovely and helpful. I thought it was very good value and a very good meal indeed.
