Having hiked out from the centre of time we arrived just in time to catch the last bars of the final song. We did manage to get a final drink before last orders and settle for a chat to end our groupâs birthday celebration before we were tipped into the night to hike back into town. Itâs a nice old building, sparse inside but a good atmosphere.Â

Our walking group used The Apple Tree for our October walk. Chrissie (the landlady) was incredibly helpful in allowing us park several cars pre walk. Lovely welcome following the walk's conclusion. We enjoyed a well cooked sensibly priced meal following the walk. Good short menu ensures the food is fresh. .. Well kept ales and friendly service was the icing on the cake. Will return.

Took my son and family to this quirky, lively and friendly pub on the Somerset Levels. Hugely popular and deservedly so. The staff are attentive, friendly and efficient. The Manager, Alistair is great! The Sunday lunch was spot-on. Great roasties and creative veg. Puddings were a tasty indulgence. I like the way they source their wine. All-in-all the best pub for Sunday lunch (and probably all those other meals, too)

Lovely old building, friendly welcome at the bar & only a shared table available to have lunch. No problems. Ordered a â?Fosseway home cooked ham with something glaze, some special farm eggs, chips & a watercress saladâ - conjured up a mouthwatering plate of real Westcountry goodness. Yum! Partner ordered a burger.Food arrives: burger looks fine but the ham - 3 slices of thin, pre-sliced ham that could have come from an Asda pack, not a hint of fat let alone lovely glaze, 2 eggs - looked good with firm whites, a pile of chips -& one solitary 4â sprig of watercress... £10.99. I donât think so. Burger was fine.

Visited for dinner at around 8.30 on a Saturday night. We didnât have an issue getting a table, as people were started to leave after eating early. If planning on eating earlier I would definitely advise booking. Were seen to very quickly and drinks order taken. First press cider was very good. Menu was good, generally standard pub food. We both ordered steak which was very good. Deserts were very nice too. Reasonably priced. Restaurant itself was very interesting with lots of decor to amuse you and make you feel welcome. We visited on too other occasions over the weekend for drinks, and found it to be pleasant for this too! Would recommend.

The King Arthur isn't what I expected in terms of look and feel, but the roast dinner was one of the best I've had in a pub and the price was excellent at £9.95. The gravy was thick and plentiful, huge selection of veg, delicious cauliflower cheese and the yorkshire puddings were homemade and incredible. They had a large selection of beer and cider and it was nice to see that they were dog friendly. Aesthetics aside, my only real complaint was that the crumble was really disappointing. We had the last three and all of us felt like there wasn't enough crumble (the best bit) and the berry/apple mixture was really too tart, hence the 4* instead of 5. If I'm ever in the area again, I'll be back for a roast!Thankyou so much for taking the time to review us Tamsin. We are really pleased you enjoyed your roast!! We recently tweaked the crumble as it was apparently too sweet and too much topping.. so maybe we need to re-tweak again.. hard to find the right balance to please all.. we look forward to welcoming you back again soon. We booked a table for Fatherâs Day after several recommendationsWe were so impressed with the whole meal , especially the selection of vegetables .Being vegetarian I often find the vegetable part a Sunday roast is disappointing however this could of been a meal on its own !Great service and with a smile We will be back!

What do you need from a local pub? Good solid grub, a warm welcome and a selection of fine ales. Tick, tick, tick. The sharing platter to start was really delicious and the sticky chorizo really stood out. The burger was a hit with everyone and a real homemade beefy whopper. Cod and chips good but wish I'd had the burger too. Relaxed but attentive service, a very warm welcome and all round friendly atmosphere. Would happily return.

3 out of 4 of us chose the chicken gougons and we did very well - the batter was crispy and light and lovely chicken breast inside made for a great dish. The chips are worth a mention as well, crispy and not greasy. Would go there again and prices very reasonable as well.

Recommended to us by the owner of a holiday cottage nearby, the recommendation was worth it for the quality of the steak I enjoyed, along with the chips and the accompaniments. Not the biggest range of food on the menu, and if my wife was writing the review she might have given 4* as the lasagna was not to her taste (plenty of mince, but only one layer of pasta, and to her taste a rather thick coating of cheese on top). Portions quite large. Would have liked a "lighter" option for desserts, the three on offer on the day we ate were quite stodgy so we settled for just coffees. Booked a table as it was a Saturday but it wasn't overly busy (in June but before the Glastonbury festival) and our reserved table (along with several others) was in the bar area near the kitchen rather than the restaurant area. Never-the-less quite pleasant surroundings. Service was unhurried - occasionally difficult to get the waitress' attention.
