Reviews on Pub food in Galena, Illinois, United States. If not for the modern-day goods sold in the retail establishments, you might think Galena was frozen in time. The six-block Main Street boasts striking examples of various architectural styles, ranging from French Colonial to Greek Revival, and a whopping 85% of the town is a national historic district. General Ulysses S. Grant, the 18th U.S. President, lived here briefly before leaving to head the Union troops in the Civil War. Upon his triumphant return, the town presented him with an elegant mansion. That house and other restored historic homes are open to the public. There's much more here to fascinate the history enthusiast: the Old Market House and the Historical Society and Museum, housed in a stunning Italianate home. Before its Civil War glory days, Galena was a booming lead-mining town. Today, you can descend underground into the Vinegar Hill Lead Mine. But don't stay down there too long, or you won't get to enjoy the rolling hills and lush valleys of this charming getaway, which also offers fine dining, numerous bed and breakfasts, golfing and antiquing.

We had lunch after our round of golf. View was very good. Service was ok. Food was disappointing. The pretzel was to be cooked in the wood fired oven. Tasted like it was cooked days before and then refrigerated and warmed up. It was cold on the bottom and extremely dry. We didnât even eat a third of it. Pizza was average. My wife had fish which was ok.

After dinner we went for a drink and to listen to some music. Cornerstone is a small place, likely had its time. They have a decent size stage where one gentlemen was playing guitar and singing. He was enjoyable. There is also a pool table and several TVs.

Terrible service. What is listed as family friendly dining is an open dining room in a bar surrounded by slot machines. I get that it's a bar, but visible slot machines are not family friendly. There were 2 people at the bar when my husband and I arrived. Noone greeted us, we sat at a table for about five minutes before the server brought menus. Drinks came out pretty quickly, food was a little slow. The burger I had was good, my husband ordered the fish sandwich special which was ok. No offers to refill drinks and we had to go to the bar in order to get our bill to pay

It's a bar, as simple as that. It wasn't brightly lit, it didn't have 20 beers on tap, there was sports on the tv's, it was cheap.... in other words: It was perfect.

We recently enjoyed a good lunch at Green Street Tavern. Located in the historic DeSoto Hotel on Main Street the hotel and restaurant have been carefully restored and maintained. We shared a French salad and pulled-pork sandwich. Both were very tasty and ample in size. Good service, too.We are so glad you enjoyed your lunch with us. Hope to see you again soon.

We are a local grassroots craft brewery using only the best of local ingredients...The only brewery in Galena, and the first to return to this historic brewing town in 80 years. We have six regular house brands on tap, and five to six seasonal and guest t
As a "craft beer " enthusiast, I couldn't have been more pleased when I found out that the wedding "rehearsal dinner" would be held at a brewery. The service was good, the staff was friendly and informative, the "rehearsal dinner" munchies and food were good, and most importantly, the beer was great! They had several varieties, from blonde ales for the "entry-level" craft beer drinker to IPA's for the hard-core people like me. The venue itself was nicely decorated, with an area set aside for our group. This venue is downtown, so parking is on the street, but a local suggested that the courthouse parking lot was only a block or so away.

Stopped here at the end of shopping day. Ordered the Meat Lovers Pizza which came with a side salad. The salad was very fresh and tasty. The pizza topping were fresh and good, didnât care for the bland crust which was advertised as Chicago Style.

After hanging in there, shopping with the wife for a couple of hours, she left me at the Grape Escape. We always enjoy the atmosphere there. Saturday afternoon they had a couple of guys playing music and they were entertaining. I had a couple of Sangrias, which were exceptionally good that afternoon, and hung out while my wife finished shopping. Always worth a stop!

Also has a fully stocked bar.
Ate here for a Fourth of July lunch on a great recommendation from the barista at Kaladi's. Turkey salad sandwich was delicious! My traveling partner had the turkey and roast beef. Love that you can order smaller portions! Both sandwiches were very fresh and tasty. So tempted by the menu. The hot sandwiches and soups sounded delicious but it was just too hot out to go that route :)Service was absolutely top notch. Such nice people!Amazing bargain as well- 2 delicious lunches with sodas for under $17. Can't wait to come back.

Celebrate St. Patrickâs Day every day at Frank OâDowdâs Irish Pub & Grill. The beating heart of The Irish Cottage Boutique Hotel, the Pubâs rich ornate interior, designed and handcrafted in Ireland, embraces an earlier time. The menu includes American favo
We looked at the menu before deciding where to have dinner. The restaurant had plenty of parking. The atmosphere was nice and we were seated so we could see the screen with pictures of Ireland. Irish music was playing part of the time. We both had salmon which came with a nice serving of good vegetables and mashed potatoes. We decided against dessert, but they all sounded good.
