Le Bouchon Gourmand

Reviewed By Arrahant

The restaurant is located next to the town of Spa, situated at a nice location near the Lac de Warfaaz. Although the waitress was very friendly, we had to wait quite long to receive the menu, place our order and receive our drinks and food. Getting the attention of the waitress also took long (at least 15-20 minutes), and when we wanted to ask the waitress about some of the dishes on the menu, she answered one question quickly and rushed away before we could ask another. Additionally and related to the above, it can be hard for non-French speaking persons to find out what to order, since the menu is in French and features mostly non standard dishes, and the service seemed to be French speaking only. Also, quite a lot of items featured on the menu could not be ordered since they were out of stock. Since the menu is presented on chalkboard I wondered, why not just wipe those items out? That being said, the food itself was pretty good. Since we arrived late and noticed service was slow, we only went for main courses. I had a steak with mushroom sauce (entrecote) and my partner had duck in orange sauce. We both asked for fries with our dish, yet only received one portion. If we wanted more fries, the waitress told us, all we had to was ask. Which left me to wonder: didn't we both order fries?! Yet again, the waitress was gone again right away. My partner did have some Rösti placed on her plate, so perhaps that counted as her 'fries'.Also, mind that you have to pay for everything separately. For example, when the waitress asked if I wanted sauce with the steak, I thought that would be included in the 26 euro price tag of the steak. Afterwards I found out I was charged 2 euro's extra for the sauce. The menu did not mention this. Then it was time for the dessert. I order a local Chouffe coffee, and my partner ordered Creme Brulee. A couple of minutes later the waitress came back to tell us both were out of stock. So we then both ordered some kind of coffee icecream in a tall glass, which was good but not that special. The above main dishes and desserts, together with two carafes of wine cost around 85 euro's. I found this quite expensive for what we got, although the food did taste nice. Together with the long waiting times I would think twice before visiting this restaurant again.

La Cour de la Reine

I simply love this restaurant. I'm fortunate enough to to visit Spa frequently for work, and every single time I never miss an opportunity to have dinner here. An excellent menu & extensive wine list with plenty of options. The aged steak is simply just divine and the service is discreet & punctual. Always with a smile :) There's nothing else I really say except, I'll be back! (Soon!!)

Le Grill

My family and I chose Le Grille for a lunchtime stop. The waiting staff were very helpful and spoke a mixture of languages. They were easily able to communicate in a mixture of French and English. It was a very hot day and they were happy to help us move the outside tables into the shade so we could be more comfortable. The food was good and plentiful, four of us had schnitzels with various sauces and our youngest had the biggest bowl of spaghetti bolognaise I have ever seen! All the food was delicious and came with a nicely dressed salad and an enormous bowl of fries. We then had ice cream sundaes which came in huge vase sized glasses! Toilets are inside at the back of the restaurant and down the stairs, they were clean enough.I would use this restaurant again.
