Reviews on Pub food in Essen, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. Essen began in the mid-9th century as home to a women's abbey, then during the Renaissance became an important coal mining town and later a major steel production center. The famed metal-working Krupp family opened their first foundry here in 1810. One of Essen's most interesting places is the Zollverein Coal Mine Industrial Complex, once the largest colliery in the world. Now a UNESCO World Heritage Site, it attracts 800,000 visitors a year, often hosting art exhibitions and performances.

Found this small bar near where we were staying in Essen, its a basement style cellar bar with low lighting and compact feel to it. Its small, but has the right character for a few nice pints and a good steak. The menu is huge and the food is some of the best ive eaten for bar food.Staff are great, and there is usually live music on after 8pm. This is the second time we went there, and it was as good as the first visit. We shall dance again!!! Enjoy!

as the weather was good so wanted to sit out and eat and as most of the other joints surrounding it are cafes so thought why not try some Mexican but I would say that the food here was just average and everything fried so not so healthy food and we did not enjoy the food too heavy

The stylish restaurant with a cozy interior and pleasant atmosphere. Service-established and high-quality, friendly service and excellent cuisine and rich bar menu. Here you can enjoy a cup of coffee and a snack on the run, dine or spend an entertaining evening with friends. Worthy of attention.

We stopped here for a birthday treat during a road trip across Germany and Belgium, the food was nice but nothing special but the place itself is awesome inside, it's very reasonably priced and the cocktails are gorgeousthere's play areas for younger kids and arcade machines for older ones as well as an outdoor play area

Would have loved to give this little taste of Ireland in Germany 5 stars but two things let it down. Firstly, arrived in time for second half of England France rugby match to find the room half empty - great? Unfortunately not as staff then tell u every table is reserved! We chanced it and nobody came for the next 90 minutes .... very and unnessarily unsettling. Then the beer ! First pint fine and then the next two were rank. Amazing for a place that must be selling thousands of pints on a match day to get it so wrong. Nachos were good though!

I really like the restaurant's concept of selecting the food materials and then giving them to the chef to cook them with selecting the sauce.. its really nice and of course freshly cooked. The service however is not that great, the staff are talking to each other, ignoring the customers at times. But good food and nice experience in general
