Before the hotel and restaurant become a Holiday Inn, the Brooklands restaurant used to be the place to eat in Barnsley. The Maitre D was amazing and the service was outstanding. The service unfortunately went down hill as did the food quality when the Maitre D left when the hotel become a Holiday Inn. I decided to avoid eating here because of that. Quite recently however, I decided to try again after someone told me it had improved. Sure enough, something has changed and the food quality has improved somewhat, as has the service. It's not quite the quality it was when the hotel was Brooklands, but its certainly a huge improvement on what it was like a year or so ago.If you've not been here for a while, I'd recommend trying again as I believe this will improve further in the coming months.

An 18th century pub and restaurant in the heart of Mapplewell. Cask and craft ales, cocktails, gins, great food, a warm welcome and much more...!
Another lovely meal at the Talbot. Nice restaurant upstairs. Staff very friendly and helpful and polite. Good selection of drinks. Ordered 2 steaks. They were cooked to perfection. Everything was spot on . Couldn't fault the whole thing. Definitely be going back. Just one tiny problem couldn't get my card to work to pay for the meal . Good job I had enough money on me . Lol

The Wortley Arms was originally built as a coach house in 1753 at a cost of 188 pounds and 66 shillings! After an extensive renovation period we reopened our doors in November 2006.You will find we have retained many of the features that have given this h
We popped in for lunch as we are thinking of having our wedding reception here in 2020, the function rooms upstairs are superb. Full of heritage and historic splendour. We were seated by the lovely Lesley who is absolutely amazing, fantastic service, excellent rapport and so welcoming. We ordered a variety of meals with the starter course being incredible, the tomato tarte tatin and the pork belly croquettes were super, the puffed pork skin and dried black pudding were off the charts. We then had one Burger, one vegetarian tagliatelle and the fabulous fish and chips which were all delicious, fresh and plentiful. The fish was especially divine! Finished with a chocolate brownie and honey comb, simply splendid. We absolutely loved the lunch and will be making Wortley Arms a favourite on our list for meals, treats and beautiful surroundings. Lesley, your amazing, made the lunch even more memorable, thank you.

The toilet brush in the hand basin in the ladies toilets should have have sent me running. The table was almost clean...we complained and the person in charge (the manager??) said we should of complained earlier... enough said about customer service. The quality of the food was diabolical - appeared to be re-heated from the previous day.If the manager had been at all bothered, I would not be wasting my time saying all this to warn others..Please save you money and your valuable time and don't spend it here.Dear Tallulah G Thank you for your feedback, I can assure you that all our food is freshly cooked everyday, however I will concur these roast potatoes do fall below our expectations and shouldn't of been served to not only yourself but any of our guests. With regards to the restrooms, this is totally unacceptable and a full investigation is currently underway to explain why and how this happened, measures have already been put into place to ensure this is never repeated. I hope that these extreme one off incidents don't put you off from returning in future and receiving our usual top class service, which as you explained in your title you have experienced before. Kind regardsGrant TickellGeneral Manager

At The Crown & Anchor we pride ourselves on our service, our quality & of course the standards. We offer an unrivalled range of local handpull ales, a huge selection of wines, spirits, craft beers from around the world, non alcoholic drinks and an extensi
A nice setting and good service but the food was a bit bland with some strange combinations. Eastern Mediterranean vegetables in hot water-crust pastry is a bit weird. A more earthy combination, brown lentils, onions, mushrooms and potato might have been a better combination in a paprika warmed thick vegetarian gravy.

Situated within a Yorkshire valley just a short hop from the Trans Pennine Trail, you'll find a warm welcome at the Waggon Here at the Waggon we pride ourselves on the quality of our ingredients and our service. Our restaurant is a traditional, cosy count
This is an ordinary pub on the outskirts of Barnsey not in the centre of London. £7.35 for a pint and half of Heineken, (usually the cheapest lager anywhere) didn't even pay this on holiday in Cornwall, By the way the chips are usually handcut but this week they were out of a packetDear Joan SThank you for taking the time to review your visit here at The Waggon we value all reviews and welcome constructive criticism as it helps us improve our business. The price of our beers and wines are competitive with similar independants within the area. You will find that Heineken has rebranded as a premium lager with a new blend hence the price point ... gone are the days when it is considered the cheap option I'm afraid. Now the 'packet' chips I really do take offence at this remark as it is simply not true! We pride ourselves on serving fresh produce including our chips which are all peeled, cut and cooked on the premises and welcome you to come and ask to look in our kitchen and see for yourself before you make such untrue statements.I would say that we hope to see you again however as your husband made a point of storming out saying he wouldn't be back again I think that this will not be happening. We are sorry that you felt like this however looking at your previous reviews on trip advisor then there are not many places that fit your price expectations except your comparision place of choice - 'Crown Carveries' . We are a very different establishment to these mass producing chains (who have economies of scale on their side if not quality and fresh ingredients) hence I think maybe its for the best you choose there so that your expectations are met, as they are not being with all the one star reviews you seem to relish writing.Take care and I hope you find what you are searching forKind RegardsSamantha Brewis
