Traditional country pub situated on the moors of Lancashire. We serve exceptional food and the north west's finest ale, within a welcoming atmosphere.
First time diners here and was very happy with everything. The food and staff excellent. Had the salt and pepper squid best Iâve tasted and I have tasted it many times had the chicken ham and leak pie again very tasty. Meal for two with starters and mains with two small bottles of prosecco £49. Would recommend and return.

Lovely area which surrounds this country pub. has good food, but the service is not the best or the quickest. It does get busy. It is dog friendly and lovely on a cold day to sit by the fire or outside on a sunny day day after a dog walk.We do apologise if you had to wait for your meal, unfortunately we can't foresee what the day or evening is going to be like, we do try our best and the waitresses are extremely polite and helpful, hindsight is a wonderful thing and I wish we could predict when we get busy, but we can't and we try our best

Visited here on Sunday with husband and elderly mother. They both had the large steak and kidney pudding with home made chips which they thoroughly enjoyed - only 1 piece of kidney and the rest filled with chunky steak. I had the slow cooked beef in ale with herby dumpling which was amazing. Definitely worth the money and will visit again very soon.

A traditional charming country family run pub with open fires, cask ales and homecooked food in the heart of Lancashire on the foot of Darwen Moors and at the top of Roddlesworth woods. Ideal for short or long walks of any level.
Busy as usual on a Sunday with locals and walkers. Dog friendly pub. Beer and cider were okay, nothing special. Although we didnât eat, the food looked really good! Cramped bar though and annoying to try and order a drink without being asked to move Thanks for your comment and duly noted regarding the space we have We are in the process of looking at various options and ideas for more space as we do recognise due to the age of the building and layout we are some what limited and at times it does become a little crampedWatch this space over the coming months when we finalise our plansThe food is all locally sourced wherever possible and we try to produce home cooked pub food that offers great valueHope to see you again soon

The portions are huge and I think they should offer fries instead of the chunky chips- theyâre not as popular. I like the atmosphere in the pub and the food is hearty, fresh and tasty. Excellent range of wines and some really good deals. We always like to take a dessert home with us.Overall: 4/5 is a fair rating. For 5/5 I would like to see better training for waiting staff and a little more attention to detail. Itâs a gorgeous spot.

Heard so much about this cosy, friendly local pub that is tucked away from the town centre. Had lunch on our 1st visit. Cannot fault anything. The welcome when you arrive is very warm and friendly, just like the setting of the pub/restaurant. The food was excellent, nice and hot with generous portions. I had the streak and ale pie, beautiful big chunks of steak, and my wife had the mushroom and pepper stroganoff with 50/50 chips and rice. Many thanks to all the staff, will be returning soon.
