The Bear & Billet is a terrific 3 storey pub located inside the walled city of Chester which was owned by the Earl of Shrewsbury & built in 1664. The Bear & Billet offers a great friendly place to enjoy food and drink. We have a wide selection of cask ale
A couple of weeks ago we felt link Joseph and Mary looking for an inn as we could find no where in Chester that had space for a Sunday lunch. We tried here as a final attempt and lo they had a table free. The food was great and the service good. We went last night again and Thursday was pie and pint night. Less than £12. -Excellent value and the pies were terrific.

Pub, Restaurant & Microbrewery.
4 of us had a very enjoyable experience on Friday night at the Brewhouse and Kitchen. we were promptly shown to our table then given a choice as the first one was too close to a noisy table and so was offered another one in a quieter area - but not out of the way so the ambience of a busy restaurant / pub. It was a race day so quite a few racegoers around either celebrating or drowning there sorrows with what money they had kept from the bookies. The pork belly burnt ends for a starter was not good too much burnt! My chicken wings were very good - tasty and succulent. The chicken satay went down well. The rib-eye steaks which two of us had were excellent and cooked to our requirements (rare), especially at the reasonable price. Good portion of baby back ribs - big baby! Mussels were also good. We were impressed with the cheerful waitress who took care to ensure we had all we wanted.Definitely be going there again soon!

We have just been to the Red Lion in Chester. I had the brunch burger and my partner had the bbq double stack burger and it was so delicious. The guys behind the bar were so friendly and attentive and brought us further drinks. The cocktails were 2 for 1 and we had 2 for 1 on the bottle of bulmers and spiced rum and cokes. We would highly recommend this place for the food, drinks and staff, when we go back to Chester we will definitely go back to the Red Lion We're happy you found our staff to be so supportive during your experience here at The Red Lion. We look forward to your next visit! Take care!

We called in here this Sunday lunchtime, we hadn't made a booking, it was very much spur of the moment but we were so glad we did call in.The service was spot on, we were shown to our table and immediately we were asked if we would like drinks and we were given a menu. We both had Sunday lunch, my husband had chefs choice which was pork and I had roast beef. Both were absolutely delicious. We couldn't manage a dessert but there will be a next time.

Welcome to The Ye Olde Kings Head. A Tudor style property built-in 1622 (The Stuart period) but erected on the foundations from the 13th century. The building is recorded in the national heritage list for England as a designated Grade II* listed property.
We stayed at the hotel here, and decided to also have dinner as liked the look of the restaurant and menu. The food was excellent and the choice of gins/rums very good. The 2 chaps serving were very friendly and helpful. Found my new favourite rum thanks to the bar staff recommendation. I had the steak pie which was very tasty, but overpriced at £16 though. For 2 mains and 2 single spirits with mixer came to £40, so not cheap, but good quality and setting.

Traditional British style pub set in a wonderful historic location offering great value local food and ales in warm and friendly surroundings
Have been here before for the ale when visiting Chester but decided to eat here tonight. What wonderful unpretentious pub food. A wonderful lambs heart, peas and mint starter followed by a fantastic braised beef and mushroom pie. The beef wasnât dry, there was plenty of filling (unlike so many other pies these days) with light fluffy pastry. superb rich gravy with well cooked chunky chips. And letâs not forget the beer cos this place knows how to keep real ale. The place takes you back with its historical fixtures and fittings and makes you feel like your in an old English boozer in the days before pub National chains, managers and the bean counters took over the trade and ruined most modern day British pubs...

I had perfectly cooked ribeye. Accompanied by a drink, chips, mushroom, onion and tomatoes. All for £12.95. I upgraded to sweet potato fries (£1 more) and an additional side salad. House wine was more than quaffable. In all, reasonably priced but not compromised on quality. Faultless service too.
