A coastal town just 20 miles west of Lisbon, Cascais was once a small fishing village, but its idyllic scenery attracted the attention of artists, writers and expelled European nobility in the 20th century. Today, it still attracts high society, but all society comes in force to enjoy the gorgeous beaches and adventure options like sailing and surfing. The Conde de Castro Guimarães Museum, a former palace, is now open to the public and displays an impressive collection of art and artifacts.

We were in Cascais during a very hot spell and it was great to be able to sit out here until late at night in the cool breeze. The staff are all lovely and the drinks so reasonably priced. Great music at the weekends too.

We visited Tasca da Linha last Sunday to celebrate my birthday. The venue is excellent as it looks directly onto the marina. João, one of the owners was our server and promptly gave us a table. (We had booked in advance as we had our dog with us and hence requested for a table outside). Our food and drinks arrived promptly and João gave us great advice with what to choose and how it must be eaten. Unfortunately the Portobello mushrooms with mozzarella cheese was over, but no big deal, we will go back to taste that another time! Upon hearing that it was my birthday, João promptly brought out a delicious, gooey, warm brownie with chocolate sauce, vanilla ice cream and fresh strawberries, complete with a lit candle and proceeded to sing âParabéns à Vôce!â (Happy Birthday) It was such a lovely gesture. Obligada João! After dinner we enjoyed some ginja, the must try cherry liqueur and an espresso, or bica as the Portuguese say. We will surely visit again.HelloWe are very happy that the TASCA da LINHA is a great place to taste and enjoy. Our aim is to offer the best possible experience. The rest is on account of the view which is really fantastic. We hope to see you soon.
