Quiet, gezellig, evening with good food. Had pea soup (erwtensoep, also known locally as snert), a traditional Dutch winter meal, and chicken sate. Missed the rice, but otherwise there were frites (french fries), fresh but slightly overcooked vegetables, and all in generous portions--more than we could eat. Our waiter was attentive, cheerful, and helpful with our attempts to speak Dutch and learn more about local culture.

We were in Emmen because we were going to the MotoGP at Assen 25 minutes away. We found Chef Burger thanks to Tripadvisor and we weren't disappointed. Good value. A warm welcome and we shall return.

Eens wat anders via een tablet konden we ons eigen menu kiezen, je betaald hiervoor â¬17,50 en dan voor elk gerechtje dat je besteld nog een bedragje van nog geen 3â¬. Leuk concept! Erg lekker eten ook en vriendelijke bediening.

Whilst it is easily accessible, being next to the road, the location is nicely laid out and you don't really notice the road. Inside and outside areas which were pleasant to relax in. They have put effort in trying to cut down the wasps, (lots of wasp traps) which was appreciated. Good friendly service and we can recommend the Italian Tostie - very tasty. Three small beers and three Italian Tosties was reasonable at: 23:25.

Very pricey but if you can eat as much as you like you'd get your money's worth From a veggie perspective limited choice although the veg breaded burger was tasty, whereas the deep fried Brie was minimalist Filled up on salads and veggies which were plentiful and tasty and topped off with eat as much as you like ice cream

Lucy's restaurant is situated in a hamlet off the main road Groningen - Emmen. On the menu are mainly English dishes, and that's what makes the difference from other restaurants in the neighbourhood. We've been here twice recently. The first time we came for a real English high tea, with sandwiches, scones and all the other sweat and heary things that belong to it. The only thing I missed was the traditional clotted cream. Instead there was unsweatened whipped cream. The tea pot was refilled as soon as it was empty, with several kinds of good quality tea (leaves of course, not bags). Yesterday we went for dinner. Apart from dishes like fish and chips, chicken and mushroom or steak pie, they offered an 'evening tea' consisting of may small portions of traditional English food, served in the same way as high tea. It was all well prepared. They also have several kinds of English beers.What I value most is not so much the quality of the food - which is quite OK, but the opportunity to eat something completely different in this remote corner of the country.
