The Bourbon Street Chicken & Shrimp might be the best combination plate ever. Blackened chicken, shrimp, onions, mushrooms, with crispy red potatoes on a sizzling platter is the ultimate taste sensation. Best value I have ever had.
Small town VFWs are disappearing and as a Veteran, I'm glad to see Monticello VFW Post 8731 going strong. We were here for a retirement party of a colleague. The facility is metal building with plenty of parking. There is a bar/eating area and a larger banquet room. It is a full bar with about 8 taps (including my go to, Surly Furious). My wife and I split the The Dorchester, which was a 1/2 pound burger steak, with grilled onions and mushrooms, potato and Texas toast. Our food was fine: solid, staple. My beer was cold my wife had a Brandy 7, which was as expected. Our drinks were served in plastic cups. There were many menu options, whereby anyone should be able to find something they like. The staff and the patrons were friendly. Military service or affiliation is not required...stop by and support this nice VFW.

I had the 1/2 lb burger with cheese & mushrooms. It was really good. Everything on three menu ous very reasonably priced. The fries were nothing special, but not bad. They could liven it up a bit with scone fresh cut fries. Mojitos would be a good addition to their bar menu, but at least they have a few different rums to choose from.

I ordered a couple of their Juicy Lucy's to take out last night. Oh my ever living word! They told me it would take about 25 minutes but it took 45 minutes. Got them home and they were burnt to a crisp. Big waste of $24!

Tootsies is a classic dive bar. Come for beer and cocktails and you will be fine. The only food is frozen pizza and chips. Good drink prices and friendly folks. They even run a free sober cab so if you drink too much you can get a ride home. They have local cover bands on weekends.
We enjoyed a couple of hours here. They have about 10 beer taps however the variety was amazing. I'm a craft beer fan and they had 3 I had never tasted before. Service was excellent. Our food was very good. We plan to go back and do some bowling. The restrooms were incredibly clean. Recommend if you are in Big Lake!

The manager is professional and outgoing. Great food, with daily specials worth leaving your kettles in the cabinet for! I'm usually not a burger person, but I am here!!!Made from scratch salsa and pico!

Although I might be the only one in the family who wants some heat, the flavors are great here! Even my grandparents found something to their fancy. The mixed menu gives you a ton of options. The thai red curry was incredible, a lot to eat! Shrimp scampi looks tasty. Our waitress was very attentive and friendly! I would surely recommend stopping in...
