Popular restaurant but considering the crowds, kids' meals and entrees came out quickly. Kids' meals were generous portions. Good value for money. The cheesy garlic bread was delicious. Wide range in menu options, including pizzas. Lots of people and noise in the beer garden, but seated inside, the noise did not bother us.

Been going to Barham for over 20 years and this place has The best food by a mile! We were in Barham for 4 nights and on this occasion ate at The Royal on 3 nights. Had one of the $15 specials on each occasion. Lamb souvlaki, hot rocks rump and ribs. Wow on each one but you need to be hungry!! Any other time spent in the bar was most enjoyable with the locals and all staff meaning we will always return. Special mention to Julie who has always made us feel welcome, as have all the staff! We will definitely be back when our travels take us back to Barham.
What a fantastic discovery this place is! Our charming hosts at Murray Waters Motor Inn suggested dinner here â itâs super convenient, literally just across the road. We started off at the bar for a pre-dinner tipple and the welcome was warm on all levels: the blazing fires take âcosyâ to a whole new level (note to self: dress lighter next time!) and it was marvellous to step in from a cold winter evening into the warmth of the snug and intimate bar. Shane, our host, also welcomed us warmly and chatted to us throughout the evening. It really did feel like a step back in time, to when strangers felt welcome in small town country pubs!We moved from the bar to the dining room and ordered ourselves a couple of Black Angus scotch fillet steaks â they were huge and utterly delicious! We ordered our steaks rare and in truth, they were probably more medium-rare but the flavour and tenderness was such that they still tasted absolutely brilliant. A peppercorn sauce was perfectly executed, chips were crisp and generous. I opted for salad (huge, fresh mixed green salad with delicious dressing and a yummy potato salad too); hubbie went with veggies â super-sized serves and beautifully cooked. Despite the steak being a little more cooked than we usually like, I simply couldnât fault this meal. Meal prices are excellent and thereâs a good range of wine by the bottle, also well priced. Sadly, if Iâd even looked at dessert, I probably would have exploded! Canât wait to go back and eat here again, next time we stay in Koondrook.
