Visited for Sunday Lunch with my husband, The service from the slim blond waitress was extremely good, but unfortunatly the food did not reach the standards that I had become used to when visiting this restaurant, I had slow cooked shoulder of lamb with all the sunday roast trimmings, the yorkshire was soggy, the cabbage and carrots were overcooked, and the cauliflower cheese looked and tasted like badly mashed potato with no taste, the dessert was blackberry and apple crumble pie, this was all crumble and pie with very little filling, the best bit was the custard which was good. my husband had cod and chips he said the fish was tasty as were the chips and garden peas but the batter around the fish had been massively over cooked so it was very hard to cut.

This venue is under new ownership and we hadn't been there for several years. There were 3 generations of our family had a meal there to celebrate a birthday. The menu was good - all cooked well and an excellent and good value children's menu. Excellent specials - goat curry and vegetarian dishes are noteworthy. Friday was fish and chip night and very good value for 2 courses. The chef came out to speak to us, and we felt like we were important customers. We'll certainly be back.

A really different and comfortable microbrewery (inside and out) with a top selection of Ales on offer, plus bottles. We were part of the recent wedding party and had a marvellous time. The bar service was second to none, thank you very much for your attention and hard work. The catering was outstanding. Well done all round!!

Village pub with locals bar, restaurant & bar dining, stylish bedrooms. Local produce, regular changing menu, real ales on tap
We were looking forward to dining here after reading many positive reviews, and indeed the food was very good although at a higher price point and great for that special occasion. However, bread and oils were placed on the table which were not shown on either of the menus, although we were charged for them when the bill arrived. As these were not requested we asked for them to be removed from the bill, a little more transparency would have been appreciated.Hi Andrew, Thank you for taking the time to leave us this review. Please accept our apologise for being charged for the bread and oils. This was a complete oversight on our end and you should not have been charged for these. We hope you enjoyed the rest of your evening however, and we look forward to welcoming you back again in the future. Kind regards

This is our local pub, and weâve been several times over the last 5 years. The portions are generous, food is fabulous and the staff have always been friendly. When we have friends up to stay they always ask to book in for a Sunday roast as itâs one of the best theyâve had. The only thing to let it down and lose a star is the state of the high chairs. Recently we visited with my 9 month old son who was able to sit in a high chair here for the first time. Thereâs one with a little tray which I thought felt quite rickety, and I wouldnât trust my wriggly baby in it. I picked one of the standard ones up which was filthy, then went to swap it over but found the rest of them to be in a similar condition. I got the old trusty wipes out and gave it a good clean, only to then find one of the safety straps was missing. I then had to clean another one. When I say clean I donât mean sweep a few crumbs away, I mean several meals of ingrained food, unknown sticky patches with fuzz stuck to them and straps so ingrained with crusty food they look like theyâve never been washed. I told a member of staff about the strap but she didnât say much. Itâs a similar theme across a lot of restaurants unfortunately.

Visited the pub as recommended by a baldock resident. Great atmosphere. Lovely beer garden. As I am gluten free I was surprised to see a good selection of gt meals. The chilli was very nice but the gf burgers were amazing. A real plate full and very well cooked. A real treat.

I eat regularly in this lovely rambling unpretentious multi-roomed ale-house. It has everything a good pub should have - friendly staff (ably assisted by a very friendly dog called Arthur!), a superb and changing choice of beers and ciders, a pleasant garden, and a sound pub-grub menu whose crowning glory is the sausages. These come in a varied choice from Chapmans, a local craft butcher, and are served with different flavours of mash. Bangers to die for, in my opinion! There are good vegetarian dishes too. Prices are most reasonable. The pub is in a back street, can get very busy, and parking is sometimes tricky, but well worth seeking out.

The Old White Horse is a neighbourhood hangout serving freshly made artisan pizzas, bubbling pots of comfort food and seriously tasty beers. We have a function room available for special occasions, car parking on site and a generous family-friendly garden
It was decent enough but not quite as good as we had expected. The menu is very limited, although the food was fine, and the pizza's were a good size although the dough was a bit soft. Unfortunately there were not enough staff on so our starters came at different times. They offer a good selection of beers etc. but all seemed more expensive than other eateries in Baldock.Decent garden for eating outside as the weather was superb.
