Under new managements since March 2016. Everyone welcome even the dog!! We serve food 7 days a week from March till the end of October.
We were not expecting great things considering the location in the caravan site, but how wrong we were. We had a great meal, well presented with reasonable prices. Staff were very pleasant and welcoming. Considering the type of place (both inside and outside) they may be better utilising an âorder your food at the barâ approach, we certainly did. Most important thing is we will be back.

Before you even walk into the front door you are greeted by a recently totally refirbished hotel with new paintwork, gardens and Stephenson's rocket like locomotive. On entering the hotel the immediate impact is of elegance. Fantastic fit-out recreating a train setting decorated in tartan. Modern bar is highlighted with an inbuilt light display and the tv when not on doubles as a mirror. Now the best part, the food! Head chef, Sam served under Heston Blumfeld and it shows. The menu has something to please everyone. I had the swordfish and my wife had duck breast (the jus was intense and sweet). Presentation and taste was worthy of world class recognition. The raspberry brulee was outstanding (as good as any worlclass restaurant I have visited in the last 40 years) and the apple and blackberry crumble was to die for.If this place was transported into a major city it would truly deserve a Michelin hat or Rosette. Fantastic place, food, ambiance and staff. Extremely well priced (you would pay double for the same in London). Surely the head chef, Sam will be deserving of recognition soon.If you are driving anywhere to/from Scotland this is worth the detour.

Come here to re live the traditional pub atmosphere which is gradually becoming a thing of the past with all the new trendy wine bars. Good food and friendly first class service. If you like real ale it is kept very well, the old Speckled Hen was my choice an excellent one at that. Being a Camra member for many years I know a lot about beer. Go and visit this lovely pub and enjoy a hearty meal and a drink maybe a chat to the bar staff or the locals they are very friendly.Thank you for your kind words about my pub we look forward to seeing you again.Mark

Pamela Behan and family welcome you to The Kings Arms Pub, situated in Bowness-on-Solway, Cumbria. Located at the western end of Hadrian's Wall, 15 miles along the Solway Coast from Carlisle. This is a cyclist, walkers and Bird-watchers paradise. The King
The King's Arms is a pub that offers traditional British pub fare along with good drinks and beers on tap. The steak and ale pie was delicious. The fish and chips are also recommended. The service can be a little slow as business can pick up quickly, but the staff is friendly. If you are in a hurry, this may not be your best option, but there are few choices of where to eat in Bowness. The food is definitely worth the wait. For those starting their trek along the Hadrian's Wall Path from Bowness, you can purchase a hiking passport here.
