Half hidden away, next to Rand Airport in Germiston, this restaurant caters for a lot of different tastes, on their menu as well as with their activities. It is situated just adjacent to the Aviation Museum, which boasts two retired 747's as well as a Junkers JU-52. For flying enthusiasts of all sorts, weekends are very interesting times at Flyboys. Light aircraft, helicopters and several Big Mamas take off and land literally a few meters away from the restaurant. This is usually very exciting for young boys as well as the not so young ones... Flyboys has a lovely big veranda as well as a more formal inside seating arrangement. The bar serves a wide variety of beverages, but what really needs to be mentioned is that Flyboys has a wide variety of craft and home brew beers, which obviously makes this the place to be for beer connoisseurs and beer lovers alike! With ample seating and a lot of fun events you will never be bored or disappointed when spending time at Flyboys!

The hotel is not in greatest part of town so taxis are recommended to get about. The hotel was a great price and very central near many of the tourist attractions. The owner is very helpful and was full of good advice. The room was in good to fair condition but reflects the price. The restaurant is great and thoroughly recommended.

We had mothers day lunch at Mike's Kitchen. From the start the service was good but the waiter did not seem to know what a buffet was. We asked if they buffet was available but he said no the menus was taken away and presented us with the mothers day special. I then asked if they had vegetarian options, he went to the kitchen and said we could go for the carvery (this would be the buffet we asked for). I must however say that the service after this indecent was really good. The carvery (buffet) had good options. My only negative would be the dessert. There was very few options. Cheese cake, muffins and mini doughnuts. The cheese cake base was stuck to the pan so I could not even try it, the muffins was half baked and the mini doughnuts tasted as if it was a day or more old. I would have expected a warm pudding like malva pudding and custard at least on a cold day.

A great restaurant with a great location right next to one of the runways at Rand Airport. They have a great selection of drinks, especially craft beer, and delicious meals, especially their buffet, both breakfast and lunch. It has a very relaxed atmosphere and offers great service, we will definitely visit again.

Not used to letting your hair down and relaxing? Go to Madeira Bar. Down to earth friendly no frills with a great vibe and noisy. The food is excellent. Very reasonably priced and authentic Portuguese dishes. Clientele seem to be just having a good time and the staff is there to help them. Waiters competent, polite and plain nice.
