I had an excellent dinner at this restaraunt. The truth is that we were just thinking of a light Sunday dinner and we ended up ordering the mixed seafood portion (shrimps, crab and mussels) for 2 with 2 Tonic Gins, 35⬠for 2 adults including the drinks.I was at this restaraunt about 2 years ago just in its beginning and the truth is I didn't like it. But now I decided for a 2nd chance and it was worth it.I was a pleasant surprise specially if it is a nice summer day to stay outside.

Consider Porto, Portugal, at the entrance of the Douro River Valley on your next trip to Europe. This River extends from the Atlantic down into Spain and is the only place in the world their grapes a blended for their world famous port wine.Porto is the 9th most densely populated city center in Europe. The valley is also the Home to the Matues mansion and brand of Wine. Great area for hikers and surfers as well as tours of its Medievil city.

During a small but intensive stay in Vila Nova de Famalicao, a local person did recommend to our group to stop and eat at restaurant "Bisconde".What a surprise when we went inside and taste the amazing food, all traditional Portuguese presented on a very modern atmosphere, and it's a must to taste "Sangria" and "Bacalhau".

Following a recommendation we went to have lunch in this restaurant. The decorations and the layout are very interesting. Their menu is also very nice. The food they served was very tasty and the names they gave each meal was also very innovative. The dessert was delicious and the coffee as anywhere in Portugal as well. I highly recommend a visit to this very nice and well placed restaurant.

This place was suggested by local people and it's really a nice place for dinner (I guess lunch as well). A bit far from town it's located countryside in a wide farm-style house now renovated but plent of old style recalls. We had a dinner at first stage (the ground stage was reserved to groups of people): the first stage is composed by two wide rooms and several tables. Very typical portoguese menu' and a good wine list, so a taste of the local flavours: very good meat and fish plus several appetizers. To be once around Porto.Suggested wine: Cabeca de Burro reserva

The restaurant is located in central park of Famalicão which can be a great place for a walk after a big lunch. The staff recommended that we should go for the seafood platter and it was the best choice we made. The portions served were huge and the seafood very fresh. Great variety of seafood, cocked to perfection. Hats off!!

Family running business, this restaurant is an oasis in the desert! Starting with the best "bolinhos de bacalhau" i ever tasted, having a nice and confort vegetables soup and finishing with a delicious "bacalhau à casa pega", everything was really home cooking. And Ms EmÃlia and her brothers and sisters are friendly and very competent owners. The wine chart is one of the most diversified i have see in such a restaurant of this category! A real gem and great value for the money if you'd lÃke to enjoy Portuguese tradicional food. A trip outside big cities that is worth every mile!

Portuguese food has always represented a mystery to me. The country has everything it needs to offer no less than other competing Mediterranean culinary traditions as the Italian or the Greek. And indeed some Portuguese dishes are very original and rich in taste. Yet, if you visit the country looking forward to try local delicacies you might find yourself quite disappointed by the choice offered by the vast majority of the restaurants. Apart from the famous âbacalhauâ and its 200 different recipes, most of the dishes consist of grilled meat and fish with potatoes and rice. Full stop. This is what people like and this is what you get. When we came at âFerrugemâ I wanted to see if these simple dishes could find their way into a gourmet table without being heavily altered by an international influence (these was,in my opinion, the case of the exquisite Yeatman restaurant in Porto). Chef Renato Cunha gave us the proof that this was possible. We went for the degustation menu with 5 courses for 48 EUR (you might also chose 4 courses or 6 courses for approximately a 8 EUR difference) and enjoyed it from the beginning to the end! Every single dish was a gateway to the most ancient Portuguese tastes, adding a discrete modern touch which makes them lighter, more enjoyable and creative. The wine pairing met expectations: from a fresh vinho verde to the full-bodied Douro white, you can travel across the flavours of Portugal northern region. This is a restaurant that could make foodies happy and locals discover the potential of this country beyond the four walls of their granmasâ kitchens. Hopefully a new generation of chefs like Cunha might be able to lead a culinary revolution that will allow the country to raise its standards without betraying its past. Parabéns!
